Description
My husband & I live on a lifestyle block in North Canterbury, about 20 minutes out of Christchurch. We’ve lived in the area for over 40 years & love being part of this rural community. Over the years we have developed quite a large garden but it has got a bit out of control and needs some attention.

We really enjoy meeting new people and it’s always uplifting & humbling learning about their lives. For the last 10plus years we have had guests from Europe staying with us. We are very interactive - obviously providing breakfast for our guests - in our home at our dining table and we’re always there - chatting - giving travel advice. We also frequently provide an evening meal for our guests & which we share with them, spending a few hours with them. We would expect to do the same with anyone from workaway. We see the benefits really just about the experience of meeting people from different cultures - the exchange of life stories - other people’s lives. We find this very enjoyable and hope to meet like minded people who also enjoy the simplicity of meeting new people.

Help
Mostly we welcome help with tidying the flower garden areas and some help in the vegetable garden as well. We would be here and doing tasks together.

Accommodation
We have a modern home with separate guest accommodation and easy access to laundry facilities. We envisage that evening meals would be taken together. Food for all 3 meals will be provided by us and while we eat a full diet, we are able to work around other food requirements. It may be that cooking some evening meals maybe shared.

What else ...
There isn’t any public transport so you would require your own transport. But there is a multitude of options for time off. Our local town is just 15 minutes away. Beaches or hills (tramping) & Christchurch 20 to 30 minutes away.
We have 2 small dogs (fox terriers).
We expect people to be respectful of our property. -
