  We are a family of four living in the countryside in rural Co. Cork. We have two children, Molly (6) and Fionn (10), two dogs, Robbie and Max and Paddy the horse.
  
  We both work remotely and our home is busy, sociable and relaxed. We have really enjoyed hosting Workawayers over the past four years and love the cultural exchange that comes from having people from different countries become part of our household for a while.
  
  We're looking for someone who would enjoy experiencing everyday rural Irish life and getting involved with us around the home, garden and property. There's always something happening, whether it's looking after the animals, cooking, gardening, doing a small DIY or painting project, or simply lending a hand with the everyday caring for a country home.
  
  Because we live in a very rural area, you need to be a confident driver and have a full driving license. We provide a car that you can also use to explore the area during your free time. If you've never driven on the left before, we're happy to help you get comfortable with it.
  
  We're within driving distance of some beautiful parts of Ireland. Killarney, the mountains and lakes of Kerry and West Cork are all great places to explore. Longer trips to places such as Galway and the Cliffs of Moher are also possible.
  
  We are very flexible about arranging free time and are happy for Workawayers to take several days together, or occasionally longer, so that they can travel and properly experience Ireland while they're here.
  
  Someone interested in horses might particularly enjoy staying with us. I have a horse myself and, depending on your riding experience, there may be opportunities to ride Paddy and spend time around horses locally.
  
  More than anything, we'd like someone who is happy living as part of an active family home, enjoys the countryside and wants to experience a genuine slice of rural Irish life. This is very much a family home, so it is important that you genuinely enjoy being around children and are comfortable sharing everyday family life with them. Molly and Fionn are 6 and 10 and are used to having Workawayers stay with us. They enjoy chatting, playing games and getting to know the people who come to stay.

  We live in a beautiful area, in rural Co. Cork, we are an hour from Cork city and 30mins from Killarney. We have both travelled a lot previously and lived and worked in homes abroad ourselves so we look forward to welcoming travelers to our home :)
  
  We love cooking (and eating!) we would enjoy sharing some Irish dishes with you and to try some of your families specialties if you like.
  
  You need to be able to drive as there is no public transport - we can provide a car to drive and lots of support and guidance in to where the best places to visit are. We live a close drive to many beautiful places, the most popular are Killarney and Kerry as well as West Cork which are major tourist destinations. You can also drive to the Cliffs of Moher in a day, or take a few days if you like and visit Galway at the same time. We are open to people taking a few days or a week off to travel during their stay.
  
  We have had very successful language exchange in our home, we are a very chatty family and Molly especially loves learning new words in other languages.
  
  After having a lot of positive workaway experiences we find a lot of the cultural exchange is in the small things, like the laid back way of Irish life.
  
  I have horses but not at home, I go to the yard most days and Molly also rides and you would be welcome to join us in spending time with the horses.
  
  We both work from home, so we are around a lot but the house is plenty big and you'll have your own space.

  Help

  Our Workaway exchange is centered around helping with life around our home.
  
  The type of help varies depending on the time of year and what we're doing. It can include:
  • helping around the garden and outdoor areas
  • looking after and spending time with our animals
  • small painting, decorating or DIY projects
  • helping with cooking and preparing family meals
  • general household help and keeping shared areas tidy
  • helping with seasonal tasks around the property
  • getting involved in whatever small projects we happen to have underway
  
  We don't expect you to have specialist skills. A positive attitude and willingness to pitch in are much more important.
  
  You'll be staying in a family home, so naturally you'll spend time with all of us, including Molly and Fionn. They are very used to having Workawayers around and enjoy meeting people from different countries, playing games, chatting and learning about where they come from.
  
  We are generally flexible about when help is provided, and we try to arrange things so that you have plenty of opportunity to explore Cork, Kerry and further afield.
  
  We'd particularly suit someone who likes animals, countryside living and being part of a family environment rather than someone looking for a city-based stay.

  Accommodation

  Accommodation is a modern, warm farmhouse. You'd have your own double room with an en-suite. We provide food for you to help yourself to breakfast/lunch and we will cook a dinner each day. We try to eat meals together as much as possible!
