    Description

    Dear traveler,

We are taking a little break from hosting for the rest of 2025 to welcome our second baby and enjoy some precious family time. But we're already dreaming and planning for the year ahead – and would love to invite you to be part of our journey once we’re back to hosting in 2026! 💛

    --------------------

We’re a small family – Fabienne, Martin, and our daughter Aluna – living in Roveredo, a peaceful mountain village in the heart of Switzerland. At the beginning of 2024, we became proud parents for the first time, and now we’re joyfully expecting our second child!

Our days are filled with the joys (and beautiful chaos) of family life, along with caring for our home, garden, and the land around us – including what used to be a vineyard. We're currently in the process of removing the grapevines to create what we lovingly call the “Berry-Good & Pumpkin Shire” – a playful and abundant space where we hope to grow berries, pumpkins, and other vegetables. There’s lots to do, and we’d be happy to have your helping hands as we bring this vision to life. 🌱🫐🎃

We’ve spent time as Workawayers ourselves while backpacking in Thailand and bikepacking across New Zealand and Canada. Those experiences became some of our most meaningful memories – and that’s why we now love hosting travelers like you. We believe in cultural exchange, shared meals, good conversations, and the magic of simple moments.

We’d be happy to welcome you into our home and show you around this little piece of Swiss mountain life that we’re lucky to call home.

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out!

    Warm wishes,
Fabienne, Martin, Aluna & baby on the way✨

🌿 Our Projects for the Year 2026 🌻🦋🍓

    > The Garden 🫐⛰️🎃

One of our dreams is to create a more permaculture-inspired garden that not only feeds us, but also supports biodiversity, invites in the bees and butterflies, and becomes a peaceful, whimsical space to enjoy nature and slow living.

Our old vineyard is in the process of being transformed into what we lovingly call the "Berry-Good & Pumpkin Shire" – a playful, abundant garden full of berries, pumpkins, and other veggies. Eventually, we'd also love to welcome a few happy chickens and other animals.

Your help would be appreciated with:
    - lots (and lots!) of weeding 😁
    - tending to the stone walls (removing ivy and weeds)
    - watering and planting
    - mowing and trimming
    - composting and mulching
    - building raised beds
    - preparing a future chicken space
    - building a chicken coop
    - creating cozy corners
    - and of course, sharing your own ideas and dreams – we love creative input 🌼

If you have experience with natural stone walls, permaculture, or low-impact gardening, we’d especially appreciate your insight, as we are still learning ourselves.

    > Household & Family Life 🍴🏡🥗

As our family grows, our everyday life becomes more lively – and a little help can make a big difference. Our vision is to keep a smooth, cozy, and heart-centered household, where everyone contributes and feels at home.

We’d love to have someone who enjoys spending time with kids, is happy to help with daily life tasks, and maybe even has a passion for food, crafts, or natural homekeeping. Italian speakers are a bonus, as we love to expose our little ones to different languages. 💛

    You could support us with:
    - helping around the house (cleaning, tidying, organizing)
    - cooking and baking (especially if you enjoy sharing your favorite recipes🥰)
    - adding creative touches to the home (art, crafts, small DIYs)

    ---

Whether your heart beats more for soil or sourdough, pumpkins or playtime – if our life here speaks to you, we’d love to welcome you in 2026 when we’re ready for new helpers again. 🌻

In our daily life, we like to share meals and chores fairly. We believe in mutual respect, open communication, and the magic of everyday simplicity.

If you have any questions or ideas, feel free to reach out – we’re always happy to connect.

If it works for you, we would like to offer food (vegetarian), if it is okay for you to alternate cooking and washing up. Depending on how you like to organize your day, you can have breakfast with us or prepare something for yourself at your own time. We would appreciate the opportunity to enjoy the meals together...if you like that as well. 😊 For Lunch and Dinner we could alternate with cooking, if you are around, if you are of going out to explore something you are free to prepare yourself a picnic to go.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

Roveredo is located in the southern Swiss Alps, right where the mild, Mediterranean-influenced climate meets mountain peaks.

If you love the outdoors, you're in the right spot: there are endless scenic valleys, countless hiking trails, and biking routes to explore right from the doorstep.
On warm days, you can take a refreshing dip in the clear mountain river that runs through Roveredo, relax at peaceful picnic spots, or cycle along quiet roads winding through forests and villages.

Nearby, in the village of Grono, there’s a beautiful waterfall hidden in the forest – perfect for a small adventure. Nature lovers will also enjoy the Calanca Valley, a wild and peaceful area ideal for hiking and reconnecting with nature. And not too far away lies the stunning Verzasca Valley, famous for its emerald green waters, stone bridges, and the picturesque mountain village of Sonogno, which we absolutely love.

If you're more drawn to culture and city life, the historic town of Bellinzona – capital of the Canton of Ticino and known for its UNESCO-listed castles – is just 10 km away. From there, you can easily reach Locarno, Ascona, and Lugano within an hour, with their lakeside promenades, cafes, and festivals. Bellinzona also serves as a gateway to Milan, Zurich, Lucerne, and other parts of Switzerland by train.

Whether you’re looking for nature, culture, or a bit of both – this region has something for every heart.
