Description
This is a not-for-profit organisation which operates an award winning and innovative off-grid environmental adventure camp reconnecting children with nature and inspiring sustainability through summer camp experiences. The camp exists off-grid with it's own borehole, solar energy, compost loos, reedbeds and a food garden.
We host summer camps for children aged 8 to 14 who enjoy a packed programme of activities including kayaking, wild food foraging, forging, green woodworking and animal tracking. Activities take place within two hundred acres of woodland, streams, hedgerows, lakes and organic farmland which we are fortunate to be surrounded by.
We're seeking volunteers to join the team as Environmental Adventure Leaders supporting children in a residential summer camp programme which engages them with nature, traditional crafts, environmental issues and adventurous outdoor activities.
We’re looking for people who are full of enthusiastic, energetic and have a sense of fun to help enrich the experience of children staying here, supporting them as they participate in the summer camp programme.
You’ll live off-grid, learn new outdoor skills from experienced practitioners, develop a deeper understanding of sustainability through hands-on experience, meet like minded people and gain confidence working with children in an outdoor setting.Types of help and learning opportunities

Help
We are looking for Workawayers to assist with all aspects of camp life. Help is varied. You could find yourself accompanying children to the food garden to harvest ingredients for breakfast, assisting children with their cooking in the field kitchen, heading down to the forest to support children on a technical tree climbing mission or assisting the Blacksmith with a forging workshop. This is in addition to general camp maintenance and development e.g. tending to the food garden, cleaning and preparing materials for activities.
As the role involves working directly with children we would need you would need to obtain your country's equivalent of a DBS e.g. in France it's called a certificate of good conduct - Bulletin No. 3. Two referees would also need to be provided.
Any potential helpers from the UK would be required to undergo a DBS check to determine their suitability to work with children. We would initiate and meet the cost for this.Languages

What else ...
We are situated just outside the city of Truro which is within walking distance (30mins). There is the opportunity to explore more of Cornwall independently or with other volunteers. On weekends we usually go to the beach, take the Canadian canoe out on the river, walk the coastal paths and generally enjoy all that Cornwall has to offer in the summer!
We are located on a 200 acre farm with access to beautiful ancient woodland and the Truro, Fal and Tresillian Rivers- if you enjoy walking (or running!) there are a multitude of tracks to explore. We are also just 20 mins drive from the north coast where you will find some of the best surfing spots in the country.
Cornwall is renowned for it's beautiful beaches, surf breaks and laidback lifestyle!A little more information
