    Description

Welcome to our home in the mountains of South Cebu!

At 2200' above sea level, this is the place to get away from cityscapes, disconnect, relax and unwind based in the mountain village of Lepanto, Alegria, Cebu.

The resort has been closed to guests since covid, and after a large storm in December 2021, parts of the site remain in a state of dilapidation. The long-term goal for the future is to create a members only permaculture eco-living community, made up of 12 self contained units.

The concept is to nurture and develop the existing beautiful and rich natural resources of the local people, flora and fauna in their own environment, and with an ‘all for one, one for all’ approach, each person doing their fair share of the work and whilst reaping the rewards of the beautiful environment. Your stay at whether for a few hours, days or weeks, will undoubtedly enrich your lives and others.

The current focus is nurturing “The Community Oasis Cooperative (COCO)” and hub of the site, made up of:

    - ’The Barn’ (that includes on site shop, co-living play, lounge, work, cooking and eating/drinking cafe area)…

    - ’The Pools/Spa & Garden’ area

    - ’The Main Villa’ (that includes two twin bedrooms; one family bedroom with ensuite and study; lounge, dining and kitchenette area; gym, jacuzzi and private garden)

Creating an eco-village like place where residents, immediate neighbours and those strongly associated with us for the past 20 years can come and use the facilities, and help with general upkeep.

    IMPORTANT
A few things to be prepared for
    - There is no hot water in the room. The running water is warm enough to have a shower. However, if you need hot water, it might be necessary to boil the kettle.
    - Mobile internet doesn't work well everywhere. In one spot, we have Starlink, where you can enjoy the internet.
    - The place is quite remote. If you'd like to move around, we would recommend renting a bike beforehand.
    - There is a hundred-step stair up to the house. We personally find it a good excercise but that might be inconvenient.

If you feel ready to be a part of our eco-village and are not afraid of this inconveniences, you are welcome!

    GETTING HERE:

While we are somewhat far from from it, getting here from Cebu City is a breeze with multiple options.

    1) Subject to availability, we can provide a premium and private transfer from most places on Cebu Island for a small extra charge. A transfer from Cebu City or Mactan International Airport is P6,000 (for maximum of 2 people) one way or P9,500 return. Please let us know if you want to book this as far in advance as you can as it is subject to availability.

    2) Next up, you can arrange your own grab taxi / airport taxi. The cost of these is up to the driver / taxi company but generally are around P3,500 - P4,500 one way. Please also note that most drivers will only take you to the main town area of Alegria so you will still need to arrange your shuttle up to the mountain to us. We can provide a shuttle if it is available at 100 php per person, otherwise you can grab a couple of motorcycle taxis at more or less the same prices

    3) “Private” Taxi - we have 1 or 2 “go-to grab taxi guys” who charge P4,500 and brings you all the way up to our mountain home but needs to be arranged in advance so please let me know, in advance, if you want to book this service.

    4) Finally, the most cost effective but longer option is the Ceres Liner bus. This is a big yellow bus you can catch from Cebu South Bus Terminal in Cebu City. The bus you want to hop on is one going "South to Bato Via Barilli". Let the driver know you want to alight at Alegria “Heritage Park”. Like the grab taxi option above, you can either grab a motorcycle taxi up the mountain to us, just tell the guy Our Mountain Retreat / Resort name and he will know where to go. Alternatively, if you're not comfortable with the motorcycle option, or its late etc, you can let us know 30 minutes before arriving in Alegria and we can have a shuttle ready for you to bring you up.

If you are bringing your own car, let us know so we can free up some space in the garage for you to park in.

    ONCE YOU ARE HERE:

Surrounding our Mountain Retreat are literally thousands of hectares of natural landscapes - providing endless adventure activities for ornithologists (bird watchers), walkers, bikers, spelunkers (cavers), hand-gliders, golfers, fishing, canoeing (at Lumpan Lake), climbing, the famous Kawasan canyoneering, ab-sailing waterfalls, bathing in thermal hot-springs….the list is endless.

The start of the KANLAOB River, which hosts all the Canyoneering activity and which eventually ends in Badian at the Kawasan Falls is just a few hundred metres from the accommodation. At this point it’s just a small stream but for the real adventurers this is THE expedition.

Within 20-30 minutes from our home, the “M-BAM coastline” (Moalboal, Badian, Alegria & Malabuyoc) stretches some 50-60 kms where all the water sports activities you can imagine are possible.

Please note that we are a remote resort. There is a small local market down the bottom of the mountain, and small local ‘convenience stores’ dotted around, but even these are only accessible with a vehicle. Any of the local attractions require a vehicle to access, we can either provide lifts if convenient, or there is the potential to hire a car for the day from one of our long-term guests/team members. The nearest supermarket is 45 minutes away in Badian and there are “hypermarkets” in Moalboal and Oslob, both around 1 hour away.

There is a 711 store in Alegria with ATM…as well as 2 ATM’s located nearby at the Municipal Hall.

If you are just looking for restful peace and quiet, then throughout the day and night you can enjoy the relaxing atmosphere of the gardens, surrounding farm-lands and magnificent scenery. Read a book (or 2 or 3), listen to music, write a song, paint a picture, bird-watch, weather-watch or star-gaze.
