Description
We are two couples who renovate an old house from 1906. We try to do as much as possible by ourselves, so it's quite a slow process. The house has a huge garden as well. There are always different projects in the house and the garden, so everybody could find something that suits his or her interests.
About us:
We are Henry, Barbara, Dennis, Sonja (35 - 43), Karin (Henrys' mum) and Bruno (Dennis' and Sonjas' son). We met in Hamburg and after getting to know the house and the area we decidet to move to Henrys birth house and renovate it. We are also getting to know the area and still in a process of settlement.Types of help and learning opportunities

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
You live with us on the same floor and share meals. We have lunch together every day and most days we also sit together in the evening. If the weather is nice we spend our evenings in the garden, have bbq and make a fire. We used to travel a lot which we cannot do at the moment because of the lack of time. So we are happy to invite people to our site and listen to their stories.
Help
We have a lot of different projects. It would be great, if you could help us somehow with the house. If you are not manually skilled you can still help us cooking, food shopping or sometimes cleaning. There are also a lot of things that needs to be done in the garden.

I constantly try to improve my English. Additional I used to speak some French which I would like to remember. I also try to learn Spanish and Greek.Accommodation
We have one guest room that could be used. It is on the same floor as our rooms and we share a toilet. On our floor we don't have showers, yet. There is a very nice house in the garden with toilets and showers, which we use as well. We usually have breakfast indiviually but we try to have lunch together. You can access the fridge and just help yourself and join us for the group meals. So far we don't have a heating system in the house, there are only very few ovens. This is why we don't live in the house during the winter, yet. In early spring or late autumn the guest room can be cold. We can only host during this time if you really don't mind sleeping in a room without an oven.
What else ...
The city itself has two train station, so it's quite easy to get ot know the area. The area itself is very green. There are quite a few hiking and bycilce trails. It is also possible to visit the cities around like Jena or Erfurt.
