Description
I own and run a small eco guest house, It's a calm environment to relax amidst nature, but also centrally located only 20 min by foot from the beautiful historic city of Paraty. These homes are part of an ecological educational project CASA (Conexão, Aprendizagem, Sinergia, e Acolhimento), which promotes tourism and living in balance with the environment and in harmony with oneself. Caring for the environment is part of our daily routine. We recycling trash and food scraps, have an organic garden, and are conscious about our purchases. Each house is built using ecological principles, including green roof, banana sewage system (BET), solar energy and solar hot water systems, natural cleaning products, compost, recycling, use of bamboo and recycled wood in construction. We sometimes have workshops throughout the year in the areas of well-being, healthy cooking, and permaculture. If you think you could contribute, drop us a line!

I am American-Brazilian and have lived in Paraty for over 20 years. I enjoy showing volunteers the best spots to visit in the region, and nights out to listen to music or dance. I also enjoying teaching and passing along my knowledge regarding running an eco-guest house, eco-building, permaculture, sustainable living, and holistic health. I am a trained yoga teacher but don't give classes at the moment, I like to play capoeira and some percussion. I enjoy making vegetarian meals and eating together on occasion. We are a small guest house, run entirely by me (solo), a nice couple from Argentina and an ocassional volunteer. At this moment we are only accepting solo travelers, one at a time, as we have limited space. Those looking for a more party atmosphere or to meet lots of travelers will be disappointed. We are a good fit for someone looking for a peaceful and beautiful spot with an eco mission, centrally located in beautiful Paraty. Here you will learn about sustainability and help us bring this to the guests.
Help
help with yard - cutting banana trees, hauling, pruning. Some lighter painting sign jobs to rest in between :) We also are always looking for specialist in logo design, social media, and hotel marketing. We are located in the neighborhood of Caboré. Nearby there are bakeries, supermarkets and restaurants. We have bikes available for use without charge, although you are responsible for care of the bikes while you are using them. We also have a washing machine available for your use and good wifi.

Internet in Paraty is always a bit shaky, but we have a decent company for online work. Large volume of conference calls , however, may be difficult and the guests will always have priority for using the internet.
