Description
We’re looking for a small tribe to join our adventure from May - November 2026.
Together we are regenerating 9 acres of sacred land & creating a sustainable, collective, restorative space, which we affectionately call Mandala.
We’re currently creating & building infrastructure… dwellings, garden huts, art spaces, bush regeneration, landscaping, planting, water catchment, permaculture & syntropic gardening. Caring & sharing, within an environment that encourages self care, conscious living & respectful relationship.
We can offer a beautiful, nature based, place to stay with food provided, in exchange for your valued contribution. If this resonates with you, we’d love to hear from you.
🙏🏽 Kaylene (Tony sadly passed away last year - he’ll be with us in spirit).

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
You’ll be working beside friendly, fun people, with a broad range of experience, learning new skills along the way…Builders, Engineer, Tree Surgeon, Permaculture & Syntropic Gardeners etc.
We will be supporting personal development, encouraging each other & unpacking the collective issues we’re faced with, in our day to day lives.
Our intention is to create a fun, short term project, that embraces opportunity for learning & growth.
We want those that are here with us to leave enriched, as much as they will enrich Mandala with their energy & valued contribution.
Help
We are midway through this creation, building the infrastructure & looking for people to help with a range of building projects, gardening, orchard, tree planting, weeding, bush regeneration, maintenance & cleaning.
We need supportive people who are compassionate & kind. We will be doing some personal development along this journey, so listening, sharing & caring for yourself & others is imperative.

Accommodation
We have a dedicated shared spaced for Workaway guests, we call the ‘tribal-zone’ with kitchen, hangout space, toilets, showers & washing machine. 2 bedrooms have bunks and are twin shared, our small hut is perfect for couples or friends to share a queen sized bed, the roof tent also has queen sized mattress or you might like to sleep in a hammock under the stars. Bedding is supplied.
We will provide food for 3 meals x 5 days per week (workdays). Afternoons & weekends is free time, when everyone can do their own thing & explore our beautiful island.
We’re also happy to negotiate your working hours at Mandala, to accommodate doing some paid work on the island. 😊
What else ...
Magnetic Island is a stunning location on the Great Barrier Reef. 75% is National Park. There is so much to enjoy around you… bush walks, sight seeing, swimming, snorkelling etc. The local bus service is awesome.
We are creating this sacred space, a place for people to retreat from the ‘broken world’ into a space which is nurturing & supportive.
This is not a commercial venture, it’s our home, that we will share with our local community & wellbeing practitioners for gatherings, shared meals, yoga, healing & learning together.
We are creating a wholesome, sacred space that supports health & wellbeing. We don't have smoking, drugs or alcohol on this land. There’s plenty of fabulous places you can go for a drink on the island. We simply & respectfully ask that you do not bring or take toxins here or be intoxicated here.
We’d prefer people who are looking for a longer stay. Minimum 1 month.

the best of the Island is that it is 75% National Park. Lots of hiking trails.
The cons are all related to cost. Food and drink are overly expensive. There are limited shopping places, and help with technology is non existent.
The Workaway was good. Plenty to do. They have many projects either under way or… read more
