    Description

Hello! Read all about our animal outreach program and shelter.

We are a non-profit Animal Rescue association in Danang, Vietnam.
We are looking for people with a passion for animals who want to help change lives and contribute to something special.

We are rescuing stray, abandoned, abused, or surrendered animals, helping them heal, vaccinating, and re-homing them. We also work with partner organizations to run various community projects such as spay and neuter events, animal welfare educational workshops, and animal welfare awareness campaigns.

The Animal Attendant role requires a minimum commitment of six weeks with a preference of 3 months for the benefit of our animals since trust takes some time with our rescues. Our founders work full time so you will be an integral member of our team keeping the animals fed, understanding, and addressing their needs.

Our volunteers must have experience with animals (preferably professional or other volunteer experience), self-motivated, and hard-working. As much fun as we have with our animals you must be willing to work hard while with us.

You will be working along-side our shelter managers at the Dog House and Cat House along with our team of local and foreign volunteers who all reside here in DaNang. As hard as we work we do have fun and often go out together for meals and activities!

"I've never met an animal I didn't like, and I can't say the same about people," Doris Day.

If this quote doesn't describe you, then maybe this might not be the best fit. Our animals come first and they need LOTS of love. This commitment is a serious one and if we think that the animals are not getting 110% love and attention then we might have to ask you to leave. Please consider carefully before applying. We will be doing Virtual interviews with all potential volunteers.

    Volunteer Title: Animal Attendant

    Working 5 days a week / 3 hours a day or 6 hours a day

    Feeding shifts
Complete the feeding checklist and ensure all animals are comfortable and safe. Report any abnormal behavior or health issues immediately to the feeding groups. -- This includes medicating, making formula for puppies and kittens plus the unique and special challenge of making sure that no one gets bullied out of their food.

    Daily Shifts
*️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️Making sure the animals have fresh water bowls all day long. Our furry friends get hot in the summer (geez so do we) so it's imperative they have clean water and occasionally a splash of water to cool them down.
*️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️Bath time! All the dogs and cats (handicapped) get a bath from time to time. Dogs or cats with mange get a bath every day. Our handicapped dogs and kitties need more baths than usual due to them getting a little dirtier than the others.
*️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️Keeping the shelter clean and tidy, this includes - cleaning up poop, cleaning the litter boxes, and keeping things looking orderly. Some washing of towels and crates will be necessary too.
*Dog walks! - We’re just a 5 minute or 10 minute walk (depending on the dog!) to the beach.

    General
*️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️Being a friendly face and assistant to the other volunteers. You won't be the only volunteer (woohoo), currently, we have more than 40 volunteers residing in Da Nang. We hope you'll be a friendly face to all those who come in and out!
*️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️️Being a chameleon! Things here change and shift daily! We will need you to be able to absorb all the changes and be a super go-with-the-flow kind of animal.
*️️️️️️Some of our animals come to us in bad shape so you must be able to handle unhappy outcomes
    * Follow strict instructions regarding the safety of our animals and volunteers. We have protocols for quarantine, sick and aggressive animals. You must be confident that you will be able to handle these steps.

    Bonus Round
We do more than just care for and love animals. We also do outreach programs: Animal welfare workshops, hosting fundraisers, participating at markets, working at our previously loved goods store, applying for grants, etc.
It would be PURRRfect if you had experience in one or all:

    +Veterinary experiences/skills
    +grant writing
    +organizing fundraisers
+teaching - classroom on site, and going to language centers/schools
    +social media
    +videography
    +Photography
    +advertising

++If you think you can help us in any of these extra areas please respond with ideas and past experience! We don't generally have room for short-term work-aways but if you can show us how exactly you can help us we will happily make an exception! We get lots of requests to volunteer every day so please make sure to tell us about yourself in your application.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

Danang is a wonderful, thriving city. Just a ten-minute walk to the beach and a five-minute walk to the market, you will be in awe of its vibrance and enjoyability. An active expat community can keep you social and having fun throughout your stay, and if you're looking for an authentic experience you can find that, too, just around the corner. There are mountains, rice fields and waterfalls all within a 20-minute drive of the city. This is also the city for a traveler on a budget. Local food can be as cheap as a dollar or pennies, but with the luxuries of darn-good pizza available for a whopping $10, Danang truly has it all. We promise you won't want to leave;)
