We stayed for two weeks from beginning to June 28th 2025 in the house of Astri and Andreas and had a wonderful time there. Both are great hosts with lots of experience. We worked in and outside of the house, with wood, cleaning and preparing the cabins, cooking and baking bread and cakes. We had a great time and many good conversations with these

We will never forget the time with them. We also tasted delicious fish and the cloudberries every morning. Thank you very much for the experience.

I had a wonderful four-week stay at Andreas and Astrid's between june-july 2024. They were incredibly kind and gave me the chance to learn a lot about Norway, Finnmark, and the Sami people. I really enjoyed our conversations. I was already very interested in Finnmark before going there, but my interest grew so much that I was seriously considering
… read more buying a house in Smalfjord that was put on sale at a mega discount while i was there (no joke!).
They shared information with me, and even lent me a car, a bike, and fishing gear.
My room (actually a studio!) was super comfortable, and the food was great — in fact, a whole experience in itself! I got to try wild salmon and other delicious kinds of fish, reindeer, moose, and even cloudberry jam.
It was also very enjoyable to work on the small projects: cutting and storing wood for the winter, tearing down an old wooden structure in their barn, cutting the grass, building our own greenhouses, painting and helping a bit with the cabins.
I’m very grateful for this experience — thank you so much, Andreas and Astrid!"
Bonus anecdote: During my stay I had the pleasure of introducing Andreas to the wonderful world of chatGPT :-)You can only contact Workawayers who have an active membership.

I had the privilege to stay in Boulbmát with Andreas and Astri for one week in September 2022. They are so kind and welcoming, and very interesting people! We laughed a lot and I could listen to Andreas stories for hours!
The place is amazing and full of history, and I had the opportunity to learn so much about the salmon fishing in the river

I had the chance to stay 3 weeks in Polmak (nov/dec 2022) with Andreas and Astri. It was a very enriching experience. This couple is benevolent. They take care of their worker and allowed me to discover the surroundings (exhibitions, local markets). Andreas has no shortage of anecdotes about his life as a Sami in Norway. I feasted on Norwegian

I had a room all in wood, very beautiful and functional. A real cozy nest. This workaway was a chance so thank you again Astri and Andreas for your kindness and for everything you offered me.You can only contact Workawayers who have an active membership.

When I've first met Andreas and agreed to work for him a month, it happened by chance.
And I was very lucky.
Andreas and Astri were wonderful and generous people who made me felt home at their place.
They brought me along to their little cabin in the mountains, served me many delicious kinds of fish and told me where I could visit beautiful places
… read more around (like a little island near their home).
I hope I was able to repay all the kindness they gave me. Working for them was a nice change of pace with tasks I truly enjoyed and where I gave all my time & effort.
They even helped me finding a new place to work.
I hope that one day I'll see them again. You can only contact Workawayers who have an active membership.

We spent at this farm two wonderful weeks. Astri and Andreas are so kind and heartful people. Even though they are little bit older they are still active and full of energy.
They are also very hospitable. They cooked for us delicious dinners of norwegian and sámi cuisine during them we were talking and laughing together. They told us many

We had a fantastic experience with Andreas and Astri in Buolbmat! Astri had to go to southern Norway, so we spent most of the time with Andreas. He is a very kind person, always in a good mood and with a great sense of humor. He has also been incredibly generous with us, for instance by helping me meeting Sámi singers in the area, as I was doing
… read more research on the subject. We spent our days feeding the two little goats they recently had bought, cooking, giving a hand with the garden and cabins, go the the grocery in the nearby village, and of course, spending time with Andreas, learning about the region, about Sámi language and culture, having walks in the beautiful surroundings, paddling on the river nearby... We were going to spend 2 weeks there but ended up extending our stay for a few days. You will not regret going there and as for us, we hope to meet them again next time we are in Eastern Finnmark :)You can only contact Workawayers who have an active membership.

We were privileged to spend 5 weeks with Astri and Andreas in Polmak.
During that time we were given a lot of freedom and trust (and have been fed extremely well); we're afraid that our efforts to be useful weren't still enough to repay all the kindness of our hosts, but we strived to do our best.
Many times we were encouraged to take our time
