    Description

Imagine waking up to the sound of birds, breathing in fresh country air, and enjoying panoramic views of the Pyrenees and Montseny. In our restored 18th-century Masia, tranquility and nature are our constant companions. We are located in a beautiful rural area just 3 km from Llagostera, perfectly tucked between the wild Costa Brava and the historic city of Girona, surrounded by Mediterranean forests and mountains.
    Meet the Family
We are Laia (44), Jaume (49), and our twins Martí and Joan (12). Our lifestyle is all about peace, contact with nature (the sea and the woods), physical activity, music, reading, and growing our own food with love. We are truly in love with our land!
Laia: Manages our rural tourism house. She loves dancing, hiking, live music, and gardening.
Jaume: Works in the environmental field. He’s into trail running, cycling, reading, and traveling.
Martí: A bit shy but very sweet. He loves playing the guitar, nature, and cooking. He’s currently crazy about football and the PS5.
Joan: Super curious and great with languages. He loves hearing stories, playing the saxophone, listening to the radio, and is also a huge football and PS5 fan.
The twins share a very special bond and are very connected. They love being at home, playing outdoors, and they simply can’t wait for summer to arrive to spend time together!
What we are looking for: Our "English Buddy"
We have been hosting Workawayers for nearly 10 years, and experience has taught us that young people (between 18 and 22 years old) connect best with our twins. We are looking for that energetic, "big brother/sister" vibe!
We need one or two native English speakers to join our family life from June 8th onwards. Your main "mission" is to help Martí and Joan improve their English naturally through summer adventures:
Daily routines, games, and outdoor fun.
Sharing your own hobbies (music, sports, stories).
Helping them with spoken, written, and reading skills in a fun way.
Daily Help: Like any traditional farmhouse, we need a hand with daily tasks: the organic vegetable garden, light gardening, small maintenance, and helping with cooking or cleaning. The best part? You’ll do most of this together with the boys, turning chores into a chance to chat and learn! We value cheerful, active people with initiative and a genuine heart for pre-teens.

As a volunteer in our home, you won’t just be a visitor; you will be a true member of our family. This is a deep dive into the authentic Mediterranean and Catalan lifestyle.

What you will learn & experience:

Language & Culture: You will be immersed in the Catalan and Spanish languages and traditions. We love sharing our history, our way of seeing life, and our local celebrations.

Sustainable Living: You will learn about organic farming and gardening. You’ll see how we grow our own food and participate in the "farm to table" process.

Mediterranean Cuisine: If you like cooking, we can teach you how to prepare traditional homemade dishes with fresh products from our garden.

Rural Tourism Management: Since we run a rural tourism business, you can learn first-hand how we manage an eco-friendly accommodation and welcome guests from all over the world.

Personal Growth: Being a mentor and "Big Brother/Sister" to Martí and Joan is a rewarding experience that builds leadership, patience, and communication skills.

Nature Exploration: You will discover the hidden gems of the Girona region and the Costa Brava, from secret coves to mountain trails, thanks to our local tips and the freedom to explore with our bicycle.

We have almost 10 years of experience hosting people, and we love the mutual learning that happens when someone new joins our table. You bring your world to us, and we share our land with you!

  • Help

    Help

Our main goal is English immersion for our 12-year-old twins, but as we live in a traditional farmhouse, we also need a hand with the daily rhythm of rural life. We expect about 4-5 hours of help per day, 5 days a week.

    1. English Mentoring & Activities (Main Task):

Spending time with Martí and Joan, generally in the afternoons.

Engaging them in conversations while doing fun activities: playing football, cycling, swimming, playing board games, or sharing music/hobbies.

    2. Gardening & Organic Farming (Shared with the kids):

Helping us maintain our organic vegetable garden (watering, weeding, harvesting).

Light gardening tasks to keep the Masia surroundings beautiful.

Important: These tasks are mostly done together with Martí and Joan. It’s the perfect time to chat in English while being active and learning about nature!

    3. Household Collaboration (As part of the family):

Just like a member of the family, we share daily chores: helping with the cooking, washing dishes, and keeping common areas tidy.

English learning through life: Many of these moments (like preparing a meal or setting the table) are shared with the twins, turning daily routines into a natural English lesson.

    4. Initiative:

We love volunteers who are proactive! If you see something that needs doing or have a great idea for a project with the kids, feel free to take the lead.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

We offer an authentic experience living in our traditional 18th-century Masia.

Your Room: You will have a private bedroom inside the main house. To make this possible and ensure your privacy, our twins (who usually have their own rooms) will share a bedroom during your stay to provide you with your own personal space.

Shared Spaces: You will share the bathroom, kitchen, dining room, and living room with the family. We want you to feel at home!

Outdoor Living: You’ll have full access to our large garden, which has tables, chairs, hammocks, and chill-out zones—perfect for relaxing after spending time with the kids.

For Nature Lovers: If you really enjoy being close to nature, you are also welcome to camp in the garden ⛺. We love doing this ourselves during the summer nights to enjoy the stars, and you are welcome to join the tradition!

Meals: You will share all meals with us as a member of the family. We love preparing homemade Mediterranean food with products from our own garden!
