  Description

  Help former Workawayers on building their forever home!
  
  After travelling in our Van for a year in 2020 and using workaway to explore different areas of portugal, we (Maria 34 DPO, Pawel 35 Carpenter) returned to Switzerland to buy our forever home.
  
  We landet in the lap of the swiss alps and there our ongoing adventure started with an over 100 year old house.
  
  As we have been new to this area of switzerland we explored the stunning nature, made new friends and enjoyed the local activities. So we can recommend you lots of stuff if you choose to visit us!
  
  As we humans do, when we feel comfortable we multiply 😉 so we welcomed our baby daughter this year (2026). Pawel an I are former flowartists, we juggle at the moment more with diapers and napkins but besides that we love to juggle clubs, balls, poi and more. We love spending time outside and with friends and family. Food has a very important place close to our heart! We eat omnivor mostly seasonal and regional and are happy to invite you on our table to fuel your working power. If you are vegan we are happy to change our diet for some time to explore new skills and recepies with you!
  The region Glarus Süd has lot to offer around nature and hikes, the City Glarus (15min with direct Train) offers culture and some shopping and for nightlife and other adventures you need to catch the direct train to zurich (1h20, but keep in mind public transport is pricey in switzerland )
  
  As we are about ready on rennovating the house inside we haven't even started outside so this is where you may join the adventure!

  Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

  As we are in a very connected neighborhood we love to help them out with picking berries and fruits and making jam out of it or just have a friendly chat. We have a small beer brewer place just next door where the community meets up every friday and you are more than welcome to join!
  
  We absolutely fell in love with this area, there are so many beautiful hikes, the nature here is raw and mostly not crowded (there are some hotspots for sure). We are looking forward to share this joy!
  
  Pawel is a carpenter for over 20 years, he is happy to teach you everything he knows. Also he is very talented in teaching people how to juggle and loves a good jam with guitar and drums. As he is from Ukrain he speaks russian, ukrain, german and english.
  
  Maria is working in IT, is also a physical therapist and loves to share her skills around her hobbies: gardening, cooking and juggling. Maria was born an raised in switzerland, she speaks german and english.
  
  Our baby is a sunshine (as every parent will tell you ;) ) we will bring her along to all our activities but if you don't want to be involved with her care and play we will respect that.
  
  As we now stay at home we wish to get to know travelling souls that fill our house with their stories and spirits. We love a good chat and to learn something new!

  Help

  We will need to have some help to dig over some earth, making wood terrasses, cutting roses & berries, restoring a wooden wall, cutting the grass and weeding, watering the garden and some general help around the house (cleaning windows, organising).
  We mostly work together as team or if you are more comfortable to do tasks on your own we can also delegate, lets discuss this over a cup of tea at the beginning of your stay. The working hours are mostly flexible, we expect 15-20hours per week in exchange foor food and accommodation

  Accommodation

  We have a one bedroom for one workawayer or a pair, all the other facilities are shared. It is possible to sleep in a hammock in the garden if you wish.
  
  We offer the food if you want to cook for yourself but we would love to cook together and eat together to get to know you better.
  
  Of course we expect you to clean up after yourself like you would at home. For us, mutual Respect and open communication is the fondation of a good stay, so we expect that. Normaly we follow the rule, the cook never needs to clean after the meal, and this would include you as well!

  What else ...

  We have a cat! Giacomo is the king of the house, he is a charmer and always up to play.
  
  We have stairs and its an old house so the ceiling hights are not so high, mind your steps and your head.
  
  We have a mostly wooden house so any kind of fire or smoking is forbidden inside the house!
  
  We have two bikes you can borrow to drive somewhere there are cool activities like:
  - visiting waterfalls
  - go on hikes
  - visit museums
  - go swimming in the ice cold river, mountain lakes or the 'badi'
  
  We have a train station just 5min walk, there drives the train to Glarus and Zurich main station once an hour. Or to braunwald where you can catch a funicular to go to the mountains.
