Description
Hello! About 2017 we relocated from the UK back to Sicily (Italy) and in 2023 we moved again to Umbria (Italy). After many years working in London we decided to go back and to create our own small project. Marcello worked in the City in the insurance sector for many years, and now wants to cultivate his passion for beekeeping, farming and bird-watching. Antonio worked many years as a triathlon and swimming coach and would like to cultivate his passion for sport alongside farming and hospitality. We are a young couple and we have recently completed our second renovation project in Italy. We've just finished to restore a medieval house in the hills above Spoleto. We are in the process of pening our second b&b in Italy. With the house we also are restoring and developing an agricultural production within the principles and ethics of Permaculture. We have 1 hectare of olive trees and we would like to experiment natural farming techniques to create a heaven for wildlife and at the same time to produce sustainable olive oil. We would like to create synergic vegetable garden and a couple of intensive vegetable gardens to provide food independence and experiment new practices of soil enrichment.
Our main production at the moment is olive oil, but we are planning to make our own wine and a small production of cherries.
The hill between Spoleto and Assisi are an area of traditional olive oil production, it is a preserved cultural heritage, with olive trees growing in terraces.
We are very close to the city of Spoleto a UNESCO heritage site, from here it is possibile to explore, hike and bike, natural parks or beautiful historic towns.
We like hiking and we often go on hikes in the Sibillini National Park.
We also like to take part in the many cultural activities in the area, but we love also stay in, read a good book, enjoy an easy life.Types of help and learning opportunities

Travellers may learn to communicate in other languages interacting with other travellers and participating at the natural farming project, which involves sharing information and knowledge with other farmers of the network. They may learn natural farming techniques and share with us the pathway in permaculture and sustainable farming.
There are opportunities of exploring the surroundings of the area with many natural, historical and archaeological sites. The permaculture movement is growing, so it is possible to share and learn from other member of the network.Projects involving children
This project could involve children. For more information see our guidelines and tips here.
Help
The main help will be required in the olive trees` maintenance, the creation of vegetable gardens. We are planning to get some beehives and plan for some farm animal keeping. We may need help in building spaces for wildlife observation or gardens for biodiversity. There are also some fruit trees so producing jam and other preserves may be required. We may need also some help in running the house and doing some small maintenance.

We will provide travellers with an independent room in our apartment. They will have the kitchen and the bathroom available. We have both single and double beds. We usually provide all meals, as we find eating together is a great time to socialise and get to know each other, however workawayers can prepare their own meals if they wish.
What else ...
Travellers will be able to explore the surroundings of our area. There are many natural parks that offer opportunities for walks and exploring. Assisi, Perugia, Todi, the Val Nerina offer historical sites of importance. We also have many walks and bike trails that can give opportunities for exploring the area. Spoleto is well connected with trains and may be possible to do a day off in Rome.
