Description
My 71 acre hobby farm is set in the heart of the rolling hills of the Otway Ranges in a beautiful, forested area with great north facing views. We have a large well-established orchard and we grow a few vegies. We also have a eucalypt plantation for firewood and future timber.
I don’t make any money from it. I just sink all my money into it instead! A labour of love 😄
Our home is close to the Beechy line rail trail which is great for walking and cycling and not far to walk to the Gellibrand store or pub. I work part time for a not-for-profit environmental organisation and I am passionate and knowledgeable about nature conservation, sustainability and social justice. If you like to play music you'll be even more welcome (-: we have quite a few instruments and love a good jam session.Types of help and learning opportunities

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
I used to be another site's host for many years when I was permanently living in Gellibrand and have recently moved back to my farm. I loved having helpers from all over the world stay and show them the ropes of organic farming; as well as learning and having fun with them. I think everyone should learn how to grow their own food as a basic life skill and, as someone who planted their first vegie garden when I was 8, I reckon I've earnt my elephant stamp for persistence!
Help
I have a big range of tasks to do and I try to break up the day to give my visitors a variety of tasks. Tasks range from firewood collection, preparing garden beds for planting, weeding, pruning, house painting and cooking (especially if you're a keen foodie!). I am happy to negotiate to drive Workaways on some day trips and hikes etc. around our nearby beautiful coast and bushland, depending upon the length of stay and work completed.

We have a semi-self-contained cosy bungalow for Workawayers to stay in with room for up to 3 people. Most meals will be shared together in our house.
What else ...
We are happy to host Workawayers for a minimum of 3 days and, if all goes well, spend time showing you our beautiful Otway forest and coast. It's a great area to just relax on the verandah or bushwalk and plenty of places to ride bikes.
