    Description

In 2025 and 2026 we are making a series of changes in our garden and much more. The activities we needed help with are to be talked as it depends on the development of our plans here. Often includes gardening, care for the forest and outdoors activities. If you are handy and proactive, write us :D

    On us:

My name is André, I am living in Denmark for about 10 years, being two with my girlfriend Maria, who is an artist and runs drawing retreats here. Since November 2024 we have Adrian, our baby boy 🙌🏼
I am also an engineer with a normal full-time job on the daily basis, yet very connected to nature and quite active here in the garden, house and forest where some moments of silence often happens 🙏🏼

Maria can be more reserved, yet very friendly and positive. She has been primarily focused on Adrian lately and helping on our little bed and breakfast, while fueling many of the changes we are doing to make this place great for people to reconnect to self, nature and others.

We love to get things done in harmony and beauty, cook healthy vegetarian meals with help of other or alternating days so we exchange recipes 😊

I am particularly fond of yoga, meditation, anything that can help us evolve as a being. If you are into it too, you will probably notice that the place has great conditions for your sadhana/mindfulness/yoga/exercise sessions in the house and it’s surroundings. I can share my experience if you would like, but it is mainly up to you to ask and practice ;)

    About the place:

The place allows you to connect with the Danish nature while nurturing the forests, seeing the wildlife (dears, hares, birds). Workwise you can expect to be gardening, to help keeping the forest healthy and take part in many other activities needed to keep the place - such as building planters, cooking and alike. Potentially, more complex tasks are done during weekends, when I am not at work and support to what we are working on is mostly welcome!

You will very likely participate in the planning and preparation of food, particularly if we have bigger groups of Workawayers. We rotate in turns sharing our cooking skills and home flavours. We prefer to enjoy it together, early dinners at 17:30, quite common here in Denmark 😊

We also have some DIY tasks we used to do jointly with Workawayer, but we were asked by Workaway to remove this as an activity option. It should be fine, on your spare time, that you tag along, observe and learn about it if something like this is happening and you are interested in it.

There are two houses in a 3 hectare piece of land with two forests of one hectare each in it. It is located about one hour west from Copenhagen, about 20 to Kalundborg and around 15min by car to beaches. And we can give you hints on what to explore nearby if you would like to, normally easier by car, but we also have a bike to borrow if you need it.

The main house has 5 rooms where you can stay comfortably and have your privacy when working away. This is the place where we eventually have paying guests, who also enjoy their privacy and silence. Being silent and tidy is therefore quite important. In selected weekends we host retreats, that also require a certain reservation and privacy - but that of course will talk and agree on that beforehand.

Worth mentioning that the place is smoke free, and almost alcohol free as well :)

Huge text, but here you have it all 💪🏼

    Warm greetings,
    André, Maria and Adrian

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Benefits are many... depending on your needs, focus, abilities and interests of course :)

First there is the place in itself. If you want to experience Danish hygge.
The forest allows contemplation and mindful work. Learn about the plants and scene of the Danish nature.

You will definitely be able to have time for your self, if you want to work away (remotely), retreat yourself a bit, read, write.

Third, there is some quite nice cultural exchange and language aspect (Brazilian Portuguese, Spanish, English, Danish), which include also some aspects of food, in particular vegetarian/vegan (good) recipes. If this is an aspiration or ambition of yours, you will definitely be able to learn on this area.

Lastly, the place is designed to provide conditions for well being. Meditation is held regularly and there is enough fitness gears for crossfit-like work outs if you are up for it!

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

The main house has 5 rooms with option for single or double beds. So you can count on an individual nice room for yourself or if into nature, also can pick a tent in the garden or in the forest, closer to the dears.

Something important is that there is no meat consumption in the house, we would like to keep it this way (in the house). But worry not, the nutrition needs, with good flavours, is granted :)

  • What else ...

    What else ...

This place is about 1h far from Copenhagen by car, about 1.5h by train, so definitely enables planned tourism there and enjoy the cultural aspects of the Scandinavian capital.

On your time off you have the nature around to yourself. There is plenty of places for a good hike. Or just sit and observe the hares and dears - for some they don't show up, for others they can come quite near by 😊

During fall and winter, you can light the fireplace in the main room. A bicycle is available to enable to moving around (use of the car can be discussed).

Regular meditation practice is held, you are more then welcome to join if you are a practitioner already. A few books in the house as well - feel free to read them :)
Support to start is also given, minding it is based on personal experience, not as a field professional.

There is a beach about 15 minutes drive - not sure by bike. And about 15 min by bike you have the station with an hourly train to Copenhagen.

The whole experience of being here is based on trust, respect, joy and care. This is the main foundation and has been given amazing experiences and return to both 🙌🏼😃
