Description
Hi there! I've just moved into a new house and could really use some hands-on help getting it settled. There's renovation work to tackle, furniture to move around, and the usual mix of odd jobs that come with making a new place feel like home. I'm pretty open-minded about what volunteers bring to the table — if you've got a skill or interest you'd like to put to use, I'm happy to find a way to make it work.
I'm also open to host musicians, chefs, people who are good with kids, or anyone in the holistic scene. Those exchanges are always a highlight for me.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
'm Canadian, originally from Toronto, now settled in the heart of Amsterdam. Socially, I love sharing what I've come to love about this city: canal-side walks, local markets, and the odd bike ride to explore neighbourhoods most visitors never see. I'm happy to show Workawayers around and introduce them to the rhythm of Amsterdam life.
In terms of skills, I can share a bit of everything I've picked up along the way — home renovation basics, cooking, and just general problem-solving around the house. What I'm most looking forward to is the exchange itself: learning about where my guests come from and hearing stories from different corners of the world. -

Help
The kind of help I'm hoping for is pretty varied — a bit of everything around the house. That might mean small DIY tasks like painting a room, hanging picture frames, or getting little finishing touches sorted — things we'd do together, sharing skills and learning from each other along the way, rather than bigger structural or specialist renovation work (we bring in local paid tradespeople for anything like that). I'd also love a hand in the kitchen now and then, whether that's cooking together or just sharing meals. Gardening is always welcome too — anything from tidying up beds to general upkeep. And if you're comfortable with some childcare, that's a big help as well. Really, it's about pitching in wherever you're able and enjoying the process together.

Accommodation
My house is a genuine fixer-upper, with renovations currently underway — so it's a bit rough around the edges, but very much livable and comfortable.
Workawayers will have one side of the house to themselves, including their own bed, giving a good bit of privacy.
The kitchen, main living space, and bathroom are shared with me. It's a relaxed, homey setup — not polished, but warm and welcoming, and honestly a great fit if you don't mind being part of a house that's still a work in progress (which, in a way, is exactly the kind of help I'm looking for!).
We usually share meals together as a family — breakfast, lunch and dinner — so mealtimes become part of the cultural exchange rather than just a chore. On days when a shared meal isn't possible (different schedules, days off, etc.), we make sure ingredients are available so you can cook for yourself. In line with Workaway's guidelines, this covers 3 meals a day in exchange for up to 25 hours of help a week, with 2 full days off. -
