    Description

Hi, I have a home in Marsh Lake Yukon (1 acre parcel), just 45 minutes outside of Whitehorse (Capital City), where I also own and run a home-based business......designing and selling commercial playgrounds. I live here with my adult daughter and have a small Havanese dog named Nala. From my house, you can walk down to the lake and enjoy the morning birds and evening sunsets. The trails in the area are amazing to explore by bike or foot. Marsh Lake is a lovely community that has a lot of local activities and amenities; such as, the ML Community Centre with it's own gym, local pub, exercise room, and outdoor bike/ski/disc golf trails; the lakeview marina with over 40 boat slips, the Army Beach campground and beach; and finally, the linking Southern Lakes highway loop that takes you to near-by communities (Tagish, Atlin, Carcross) offering great water access points, fishing, trails, beaches, restaurants, coffee shops and stores; all with amazing scenery. From Marsh Lake, it is a 2 hour drive to Skagway Alaska and approx 6 hour drive to Haines Alaska, both with amazing mountain passes that take you over the tree line that offer amazing hiking and fishing along the way. Kluane National Park (mountains and wildlife) and Dawson City (Land of the Gold Rush) are two places you need to visit while you are here and are within a 3 and 6 hour drive.

I am very busy in the summer and autum months with my business, so I would love to have extra help with projects and chores around my home and yard; in particular, lawn and flowerbed maintenance, cleaning up and organizing things, cutting wood (if you have those skills), cleaning windows, outside painting. If you have carpentry skills, I have many DYI projects that I would love help with.

Since I live approx 45 minutes from Whitehorse, you will need to supply your own vehicle and gas for any traveling you want to do. I have one kayak and a mid level mountain bike, which you are free to use if you wish.

I speak english so if you wanted to improve your english, you would be able to practice the english language. I live outside the city, so my place is in a rural wilderness community with lots of trails, a beautiful lake with lots of mountains and beautiful scenery around. There is a local community center where you can access a local pub, gym and exercise room. There is a marnia near by where you can launch a boat and look at the beautiful lake and mountains.

  • Help

    Help

There are a variety of things you could help me with. You can help me with some of them or most of them if the stay is long enough. I would like help with small building and maintenance projects around the house, painting/staining, general landscaping/weeding/building gardens, moving furniture and household items, cleaning windows and dusting cabin logs, chinking (if you know how to do that). If you have experience with building tools, know how to paint, use a chain saw, it would be most useful.

I can help you with the english language since that is all I speak, so you will have to use english as much as possible. I prefer someone with at least an intermediate level of english.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

Your accommodation is a 16'x20' (5x6 Meter) furnished, "dry" cabin with it's own deck and outhouse. The cabin comes with a queen bed, basic cooking facilities (including small outdoor barbeque), a fridge and wash bin with blue jugs for water (you can get water from the water station at the local firehall). The cabin also has a wifi connection fr my house. You can shower in my down stairs washroom in the main house.

I will supply and pay for your groceries for breakfast and lunch (you would prepare these meals in the cabin) and I will make supper in my house for the evening meal for the days that I am around, but some days you may have to make your own supper.

I have a sea kayak and a bicycle to offer during your stay. It will need to supply your own vehicle to go on camping and hiking trips, and any trips into Whitehorse that you want to do. I live approx 45 minutes from Whitehorse.

I am ok with a dog that is good with other dogs and humans. I have a big yard, but it is not fenced so the dog would have to be supervised by the owner when outside or kept on a leash so it does not wander into the neighbor's properties. There are walking trails just leading from my year that goes down to the lake and around the subdivision. There is a chicken coup in my neighbors yard that has an electric fence around it. Sometimes the odd neighbors dog will walk through the property, but all the dogs are pretty friendly. I live at the end of a cul-de-sac, so the traffic is very slow around the loop.
