Description
Hi, new host here hoping to find a decent workawayer for the first time! I'm James, Im an English guy living in Central Portugal. I have been living here for about 6 years now. Its just me here with my 10 cats and 5 hedgehogs and all the wildlife. im looking for motivated eager people to help make my land even more awesome than i think it is already!
15 years ago I was a Workaway-er myself. I did Workaway in Andalusia and Portugal and had a great time. I enjoyed Portugal so much, that I moved here 10 years later.
I live on 2 hectares of land on the edge of a peaceful small village, near Oliveira do Hospital. I live in a yurt and caravan, depending on the time of the year.
Here you are sounded by nature weather it's the frogs crickets or birds and with very few noises from humans
Your accomodation can be either the spare caravan or the yurt
I'm kind of off grid as I have my own electricity and drink the crystal clear rock filtered water that I'm lucky enough to have on my land
If you have any questions please drop me a message! -

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
Workawayers experience living in Central Portugal and have the opportunity to discover this beautiful region. It's a chance to learn about the small village life. You can learn the Portuguese language by talking to my lovely neighbours and be emerged in the culture of a small village. You can learn a lot about living off grid and a different way of life to the cities

Help
It's summer time so early mornings as it's too hot by midday, tasks involve watering trees moving logs looking after the vegetable garden along with possibly some cementing as I'm in the process of giving my bath/shower area and upgrade
I'm not great at cooking vegetarian but am willing to learn -

I'm always interested in new languages I've been studying Portuguese for 4 years even though it's not my strong point I'm still trying -
Accommodation
When you come and stay with me, you will probably be in the yurt it's 5m diameter so plenty of room but be aware it's sounds like you are in the middle of nature when you sleep there if not there is a spare caravan or I have a lotus belle tent that can be set up anywhere on the land. In the yurt there is a double bed with lighting . Charging your mobile phone will be possible there. There is an outside shower bath and toilet I have a washing machine here aswell

What else ...
There is a town about 15 minutes away that has shops supermarkets lots of cafes and some history. The village has a little shop and a few cafe bars. I am only an hour away from the top of the highest mountain on the Portuguese mainland and also an hour to viseu or Coimbra which are the big cities in the area there are lots of walks and river beaches local to the area or either that in your spare time you can find yourself a quiet spot on the land and read a book 🙂
