Description
We are a family of 3 adults, living on a smallholding at the Sheep´s Head Peninsula in West Cork by the sea with our dogs, cats, geese and goats. We are well into self-sufficiency, growing lots of vegetables and fruits, keeping bees, producing goat´s cheese for ourselves and so much more. We are very interested in sustainable gardening, permaculture, natural remedies, homeopathy, and grow some herbs, shrubs and trees.
Although we have a family business offering self-catering accommodation to guests from all over te world, we are not looking for business support but help with our private garden and small holding.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
You could learn gardening skills like seed sowing, planting, composting, bed preparation, harvesting (we studied sustainable horticulture, permaculture and naturopathy/homoeopathy). We live in a rural peaceful area, ideal to unwind and calm down from hustle and bustle.

Projects involving children
This project could involve children. For more information see our guidelines and tips here.

Help
When you are interested in nature and gardening there are lots of interesting things to do here. You could work with us in the garden, sowing and planting in the polytunnel, weeding, pruning hedges and trees, doing projects like helping with a planned outdoor compost toilet or willow arches, planting trees and much more. Most of the time we will work together but sometimes we will give you a task to help on your own. Gardening is a physical task and exhausting so being reasonably fit is helpful.

You will stay in a renovated caravan in our garden and can use the second bathroom in the house (at night you can use a camping loo in the caravan); the caravan is fully equipped with toaster, kettle, 2-plate-cooker, mini fridge, towels, duvets, pillows. We will buy food that you can prepare and cook for yourself. Sometimes we also will eat together.

What else ...
Ideal area for hiking, swimming, kayaking (please check the internet for #West Cork, #Wild Atlantic Way #Sheep´s Head trail, or the apps #explore cork,#Atlantic Way Explorer,# Ireland) The next bus stop is in the village (5 min by car, 35 min walk). When possible we will bring you to the bus stop for your weekend trips (for example to Killarney, Cork or Galway). Once a week we drive to town (Bantry) 15 min for shopping so you could join and stroll around.
