Description
Located in the North Okanagan outside Vernon, BC, we are a large family on a farm with cows, dogs, pigs, chickens and other animals. We grow most of our own food. Water comes fresh and cold from our well, and we cook large meals for everyone to enjoy. Our happy children are homeschooled, while we all work on the farm and enjoy the Okanagan summers. We enjoy lots of Canadian wildlife in our area, including deer, moose, cougars, and bears. (don't worry, they don't bother people) In the evenings we like to play games, read, and listen to or play musical instruments, maybe enjoy a bonfire while the sun sets over the mountains. We are a safety conscious, family environment, so we are looking for folks who appreciate wholesome living, and love having guests!

Help
Tasks we would like help with are sewing, cooking, cleaning, schooling, firewood gathering, milking the cows, collecting the eggs, gardening, baking, canning, landscaping, painting, soap-making, building, and many more fun projects that may arise, as well as general child care. We have a safety plan in place with guidelines for child protection requirements, and insist that all guests understand expectations. There are days off, interspersed with days where we complete tasks together, with lots of time to explore and enjoy the North Okanagan area.

We have a large separate bedroom for guests with bathroom, and love to share our spacious timber frame home. We have internet, electricity, and listening ears to hear all your stories. There are peaceful spaces in our home as well as busy spaces, but everyone is welcome in our respectful home. Meals are usually taken at the table as a family, with a delicious variety of food served.
What else ...
There are several fishing lakes nearby, as well as swimming, boating, golfing, hiking, and outdoor recreation opportunities of every type within a 20 minute drive. The Bluenose Hiking Trail is within walking distance, and we are twenty minutes drive from beautiful Kalamalka Lake. Orchards abound with fresh apples and cherries, there are vehicles heading into town frequently who could offer transport for more fun activities available in the city. We look down over the little community of Lavington, where there is a gas station, a restaurant, a pool, parks, and community events.
