  • Description

Hello and welcome to our little healing farm where we practice permaculture, natural building, natural medicine, facilitate healing ceremonies and where we learn the art of living in tune with ourselves and everything around us.

For the preparation of our next season we are looking for people who are self-starters, who are able to use their own initiative to work on tasks and who are able to work on their own as well as part of a team. We work with natural materials here, especially timber and often roundwood from our land, as well as lime and granite.
Because of the nature of our projects and the tools we use here, we are generally looking for peeps with experience in at least EITHER of the following:

    *️️️️️ natural building
*️️️️️ using power tools (brush cutter, chainsaw etc) as well as tools like axes
*️️️️️ carpentry (ideally you are trained or have longer experience in this)
*️️️️️ permaculture / the growing of food (creating areas for food production that are in symbiosis with their surroundings)

Our most important next 2 projects to have completed by next season is an outside compost toilet and kitchen. We are therefore looking for people with experience in the natural building of such projects, however if you don't have any experience but are happy to give us a hand with other important tasks do get in touch with us anyways.

    Minimum Stay

It is absolutely possible to stay with us for longer term- we welcome this very much and actually prefer it. This would be a great opportunity here for someone looking to live off-grid for a while whilst contributing to a really good project!

    Our Farm

Our little Shire is nestled in the hills of the Serra da Estrela Natural Park in central Portugal. Part of this farm is a little chestnut woodland which we coppice for building material and fire wood. This is quite a magical place that has been abandoned for decades and that we are now restoring to an abundant and self-sustaining food forest.
We are fortunate to live amongst trees and away from power lines, pesticides and with a year-round flowing fresh water creek and supply of clean and living Spring water straight from the mountains!

  • What else ...

    What else ...

The growing community in this area with peeps from all over the world means that there are frequent gatherings, drum circles, Red Tent womens circles, workshops, yoga classes, mantra singing, QiGong classes, artesan fares etc etc etc!:-) There is also an increasing number of children here for those of you who travel with their kiddies.

    - This is a strictly organic farm and there is not yet a greywater system installed. Water is sacred and we want to bring this awareness back. This means that you can only use purely natural and biodegradable soap, shampoo, toothpaste and anything else that eventually ends up in the soil and water. We are making our own wonderful olive oil soap and healing toothpowder and are happy to share it with you for a small donation if you cannot bring them with you.

    - For this same reason we need a full disclosure of any medications you're taking, especially birth control pills, antibiotics etc. as this seriously impacts the farm's soil and plant life.

    - Life here goes with the flow, so an easy-going, flexible, humorous attitude is essential, as is the ability to work independently if circumstances and other workloads demand.

    - TOWEL
    - SUITABLE FOOTWEAR with a good sole (I.e. not flip flops or converse like shoes)
    - AND TORCH!

We provide work gloves of course, and a friendly family atmosphere to make you feel at home with us!

Our nearest local villages are Figueiró da Serra, Linhares da Beira and Carrapichana, which also has a bus stop served by Rede Expressos coach services.
Other bus and train stations are Gouveia or Celorico da Beira.
