Description
ABOUT US AND OUR HOME
We're a family of four - Nina, Steve and two children 10 years (boy) and 6 years (girl), plus cats and chickens - who live in the peaceful hinterlands of Gold Coast, Australia. Our large (new!) home comes with a pool and lake and is nestled in a leafy hillside in a quiet cul-de-sac in the Bonogin Valley.
We are 14 minutes drive from the nearest shopping centre, cafe, shops and public transport (Mudgeeraba) and 30 minutes to the beach (Burleigh).
We have a share car available for workaways to use. Helpers have their own bedroom with a Queen and single bed, walk in wardrobe and shared bathroom and kitchen.
OUR PROJECT
Our project is centred around supporting family life and bringing the gardens to life. Helpers assist with daily household routines, such as dishwashing, general tidying and child minding, as well as assisting Nina with converting our property to low-maintenance, native gardens and revitalising the organic vegetable garden and orchard. The focus is on being part of a calm, cooperative, healthy home. Long-term stays are welcome.
OUR FAMILY
We enjoy outdoor and nature-play activities (so many good beaches and bushwalks nearby), cooking, board game nights, yoga and music. We are a happy and warm family and are trying to learn French. Steve can speak 6 languages (wow!).
Both Nina and Steve work from home. Steve runs his own businesses and is a passionate entrepreneur. Nina works for an indigenous Care for Country organisation on environmental projects. Our son enjoys creative art, maths and engineering and our daughter loves imaginative play, dance and performance.

Help
We would deeply value home help including daily housework, gardening, childminding and looking after our pets if we're away.
We're looking for around 15 hours of support a week. For one person across a week, this looks like:
2hr - full home clean once a week
5hr - Daily dishes and general tidy over the week
8hr - Gardening over the week
For more than one person, support with childminding and gardening would be greatly appreciated.

Accommodation
There are two bedrooms for helpers. Each bedroom has a Queen and single bed and simple wardrobe. The bedrooms are within our home. There is a bathroom with toilet, sink and shower for helpers. The kitchen and living spaces are shared. There is a laundry and plenty of parking space.
Our home sits next to a luxury retreat that we currently run as an Airbnb and event space. We ask helpers to be considerate and respectful of their behaviour, noise levels, visitors and activities, particularly in shared or visible areas.
What else ...
We are a non-smoking home and appreciate a quiet house after 8pm (bedtime for our children) - we ask helpers to be mindful of music and noise after 8pm.
No drugs or excessive drinking inside our home.
Our home is solar powered - please use dishwashers and laundry during the day.
We are a gluten free family and have severe shellfish allergies. Strictly no shellfish in the home (prawns, crab, bugs, lobsters etc) and if you cook with glutenous materials (pasta, bread, wheat etc), please carefully wash your equipment and clean the space after you've finished cooking. Helpers are responsible for their own food and meals.
You are welcome to have guests visit - please ask first.
We are seeking considerate and respectful people to share our home with.
