Cortes island is a beautiful and magical little gem with an amazing landscape and a vibrant, quirky community. The farm is 90 acres of waterfront property with 70 acres of protected old-growth forest.
All hours of help will be paid minimum wage.
In addition to the market garden, that drives the business, the holistic farm also includes sheep, chickens and pigs that are rotatinally grazed and spoiled rotten.Types of help and learning opportunities

Help will adjust seasonally. In then summer the main focus is on vegetable production and switching to more fruit picking in the fall. Animal snuggles are a daily activity.
As someone who learned to grow and homestead through volunteering, I'm happy to share any knowledge with those who are interested.

Volunteers stay in a fully functioning trailer equipped with hot water, a double bed, propane stove and oven, fridge, good wifi and an outhouse. Laundry is available in the main house. Veggies and eggs are provided and the rest of the meals are on your own.

There are many beaches and trails on the island, including on the farm property. We have a vibrant market and many social and music events throughout the year to meet and interact with the eclectic community on a rural island.

Work on a farm is often unpredictable but hours tend to be in the morning with weekends off. This is an ideal situation for people who work remotely as there is a lot of independence, free time and personal space built into the arrangement.
