Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
My husband and I are happy to share things we know with you, especially Malaysian culture (and Malaysian Chinese Culture!) We love to know more about you and your interest and are willing to go the extra miles to let you have better exposure and experience in the aspects that you’re interested in, whenever possible.
For example, if you’re interested in Malaysia food, we will try to bring you to the best place to try it instead of just sharing the information with you; if you’re interested in the working culture in Malaysia and hope to have an in-depth understanding, we will try to look for our friends who’s working in the field that you’re interested in and let them share it with you!
My husband has a wide range of knowledge and I’m an ENFJ who loves to research and is talented in strategic thinking, so if you enjoy chatting or discussing about things, we’re happy to chat ☺️
I’m a Psychology graduate and have attended the training of Satir Family Transformation Therapy, so if you’re interested in this area, I can always share related information or perspectives to you ☺️
Vincent’s P/S: we’re an unschooling family, so we’re kinda weird and unconventional in many things that we do. Haha 😛 think twice before you request 😏😆 but if you’re interested in some ‘conspiracy theories’ and things like that, we could probably be good friends 🤣

Help
Hello there, we’re Vincent and Jia Chyi. First of all, I just wanna say that we were workawayers ourselves, so we know what it’s like 😉
As a homeschooling family with two young children at home, life is unpredictable is many ways, in a good way. We’ve found out earlier this month that we’ll be expecting another baby soon! Haha. At this stage of our journey called life, we believe that the help we need would mainly be centred around helping around the house. Things like cleaning, some cooking, playing with the kids and mayyybe a little gardening, plus just making and being friends.
In terms of projects, we do have one that has been on our mind for a while but due to the scale of it it’s a little too much for us at this point without outside help. It’s a second floor studio that’s currently packed with furniture, toys and stuff that we’d like to turn into a liveable space. So we’re gonna need someone that’s willing to help us with that. It’s definitely gonna be a plus if you have a good sense of space and design!
If you have some skills that you can share with the kids, that’d be awesome too!
There’s some house rules that we would like our guests to respect during your stay:
1. No smoking or vaping
2. We practice modesty dressing in our house (pants/skirts covers knees and shirts covers shoulder; avoid clothing that reveals your body shape too).
3. Quiet time after 10pm (so the kids can get ready to sleep).

I know nothing about French but thought it’d be fun to learn it!
Accommodation
We have a guest room with a queen size natural latex bed which is pretty comfortable. We have two more single mattresses if you prefer them😌
Due to pregnancy symptoms like morning sickness, it has been a challenge to prepare food ourselves. However, you’re always welcomed to use our kitchen to prepare food. There’s a huge local supermarket just 6 minutes walk away that you can get almost anything you need. We’re also always happy to give recommendations for food you should try out. Meals will be included if we need more help (5 hrs/day). Otherwise, you’d only need to work 3 hrs/day as a default.
** We eat biblically clean food and our kitchen cannot handle biblically unclean food (meaning mainly no pork and any seafood without fins and scales (eg., shrimp, crab, squid, etc).
What else ...
We’re staying in a ‘new Chinese village’ where you can still have a taste of old school Chinese housing and community. Our place is nearby Senai airport, Kulai bus station, and Kulai train station. We are always willing to pick you up/drop you there if we’re free!
Our place is close to some beautiful parks. There’s a mountain (Gunung Pulai) about half an hour away that you can go hiking at. At the bottom of that mountain there’s a beautiful river where people (especially kids) will gather to play and relax. Beside the river there’s place to picnic as well.
Both of us love to play badminton. If you’re interested in it, we can play together! 😄
If you’ve read all way till here, well done! Basically we’re just looking for kind people to be friends with. You’re here to live life together with us. We try to make it feel like home for you guys to the best of our ability. If you’d like to know how a local live, and is happy to help out with kids and share with us what life is like at your end, welcome!

Vickie and Nils, you guys are amazing. 💖 It is definitely not easy to find workawayers as kind, thoughtful and caring as them. We are so happy that we had the chance to invite them into our home,… read more
We stayed at their house for two weeks. They accepted us as if we were a real family. That was a wonderful thing. They were always kind to us. So we were able to spend our time as relaxed as if we were in our own home.
I was more than happy to be able to discuss parenting with them. It was a good… read more
