    Description

    Hi!

We're Pat and Brendan, and we run a guesthouse in the beautiful riverside town of Kampot, Cambodia.

We met while travelling over 10 years ago, instantly became best mates, and have been lucky enough to call many places home along the way. For the next few years, Kampot is where we've chosen to settle, and we couldn't be happier.

What we love most about Kampot is its incredible sense of community. It's the kind of place where it feels like everyone knows everyone, making it easy to feel at home from the moment you arrive. There's always something happening, whether it's exploring the countryside, relaxing by the river, discovering great cafés and restaurants, or enjoying the town's laid-back atmosphere.
We're looking for friendly, enthusiastic people who want to experience the real Kampot, meet amazing people from around the world, and hopefully fall in love with this special place just like we did.

Alongside us, you'll also meet our wonderful local staff, who help keep the guesthouse running smoothly and are always happy to share a smile, local knowledge, and a taste of Cambodian hospitality.

We can't wait to welcome you and share this little corner of the world with you!

While we're a small guesthouse, we love creating a friendly and social environment where everyone feels welcome. You'll be working alongside us and our wonderful local Cambodian staff, which is a great opportunity to experience everyday life, learn a few Khmer phrases, and gain an insight into the local culture.

We have a great mix of guests, both local and from around the world. We think this creates a really unique atmosphere and gives you a more authentic experience than a typical backpacker hostel.

Outside of work, we're always happy to recommend our favourite cafés, restaurants, swimming spots, and hidden gems around Kampot. If we're free, we'll often grab a meal, head out for a drink, or explore the area together.

In return, we love meeting people from all over the world and hearing your stories, travel experiences, and different perspectives. Every Workawayer brings something unique, and we're excited to learn from you just as much as we hope you'll enjoy learning from us.

We're looking for friendly, adaptable all-rounders who are happy to get involved with the day-to-day running of our guesthouse.

The work is varied but never too demanding, and we pride ourselves on having a relaxed, laid-back atmosphere. Your tasks may include helping with cleaning rooms and common areas, assisting with guest check-ins and check-outs, chatting with guests, and lending a hand wherever it's needed. No two days are exactly the same, which keeps things interesting.

We'll be working alongside you, so you'll never be left to figure things out on your own. We're always happy to share what we've learned about running a guesthouse, hospitality, and life in Cambodia. We see Workaway as a cultural exchange, not just work, and want everyone to enjoy their time here.

We're also very flexible with shift times. Some days you might work in the morning, while other days you may have an afternoon or evening shift, giving you plenty of free time to explore Kampot and the surrounding area.

We're looking for people with a positive attitude who don't mind getting stuck in when needed, but there's no bootcamp here! We want you to enjoy your stay, meet great people, and leave with some amazing memories.

Volunteers will stay in one of our two private volunteer rooms, with a shared bathroom between them. If you're the only Workawayer staying with us, you'll have the entire volunteer area to yourself, giving you plenty of privacy and space to relax.

The rooms are clean, comfortable, and secure, with everything you need for a pleasant stay after a day of exploring or helping around the guesthouse.

Volunteers have access to our breakfast materials, which they can use to make their own food. We also do regular group cook ups as a team and share with our guests. This is a great way to eat well, save money, and be part of the day-to-day life of the guesthouse. For any remaining meals, there are plenty of affordable local restaurants and cafés just a short walk away, and we're always happy to recommend our favourite spots in Kampot.

    What else ...

In your time off, there’s plenty to explore in and around Kampot. The town itself is very walkable, and most cafés, restaurants, and riverside spots are just a short stroll or bicycle ride away. We can also help you arrange affordable scooters or tuk-tuks if you want to head a bit further out to places like the pepper farms, waterfalls, the national park, or nearby beaches.

We keep things very relaxed at the guesthouse, and we ask for nothing more than common sense and respect for the space and everyone staying here. The main house rule is no smoking inside the rooms. We just ask that shared spaces are kept clean and that everyone is considerate of guests, staff, and other volunteers so it stays a comfortable and friendly environment for all.
