Description
We live rurally on 5acre block in the foothills of Mt Pirongia in Te Pahu. We are in our 60’s and have projects like firewood, fencing, gardening, tree planting, pruning, house washing, gutter cleaning, animal care and housesitting. We have 2 horses, 2 cows, chickens, a dog and a cat. Te Pahu is a great rural community, lots of hiking, walking and mountain biking trails in area, 30 mins to Raglan, Hamilton, Cambridge, Otorohanga. We both still work. We spent 10 years travelling in our 20's to 30's and love the sharing of different cultures and would like to engage with international people again to share our wonderful home and culture in New Zealand.

We have a thriving community with pilates, brewing club, preschool, school, squash club, fitness training, walking trails etc. it would be lovely to share our wonderful community with overseas travelers. We would love to share the beautiful scenery and way of life we have in NZ. We travelled ourselves for 10 years and valued the opportunity to meet people in their communities to share lives and culture. Happy to share what it is like to live on a lifestyle block in New Zealand. We love the adventure of travel and meeting people from overseas and have hosted backpackers from Brazil, Canada, UK etc.
Help
Through out the seasons we need help with a variety of jobs (not all at the same time)
House care - house washing, windows, gutter clearning
Animal care - may need assistance feeding horses, cows, chickens, cats and dogs depending on season.
House tasks, dog walking if you wish
Fencing - fixing fences, upgrading parts of wire fences.
Firewood - splitting the rounds from pine trees, heavy duty splitter is here on the property so will show how to use and help,
Gardening - making new beds, moving topsoil to garden areas, planting and weeding new and existing gardens. Looking after fruit trees like picking, pruning and setting up base around trees, trimming other trees with trimmer machine.Languages spoken
English: Fluent
Accommodation
Self contained small flat with king bed, shower, toilet and facilities to make tea and coffee. Access to main house with kitchen facilities. We can provide meals but may not be able to cater to some dietary requirements.
What else ...
There is no public transport in the area, and we are 35 kms from Hamilton, 30km from Te Awamutu so you will need your own transport. We get up early 6am and go to bed around 9:30am, we work Monday to Friday and I ride my horse a lot and Graeme plays golf. We are non smokers so no smoking, and keep your room tidy and clean, and some times of the year we have to watch water use as we have our own water tanks to collect rain water for use.
