    Description

Located in Metung in regional Victoria on the stunning Gippsland Lakes. We have room for an individual or couple, or two singles, (bed is one queen). We can offer unlimited wireless internet and a bathroom that is shared with my 15 year old son and potentially on weekends he has friends stay. He and his mates are really nice kids and he has lots of experience with international travellers.

We have a dog, chickens, horses and a small number of other livestock. Our dog is part of the family and sleeps inside.

When you contact us please indicate the dates you would like to come and stay.

We are very easy to get to via train from Melbourne. The train arrives in Bairnsdale (25 minutes away) where we will pick you up, or you welcome to arrive via your own transport.

Our house is located a pleasant 5 km walk from the main town with most of it along a boardwalk on the waters edge, but there is a hill to tackle there and back.

There is a bus that leaves locally (from Swan Reach) that heads to both Lakes Entrance and Bairnsdale, that if you organise we are happy to drop you there so you can spend the weekends at the beach.

The work at the moment is varied and includes cleaning (windows mostly), oiling of decks, general garden maintenance and weeding, digging out some weeds, help with setting up fencing and general property cleanup. The horses are out of work and not been ridden at this point in time. The work would suit handy sort of people that can use basic tools.

We are definitely an early to rise, early to bed family! Vegetarians/vegans are welcome, but understand we are meat eaters, I’m not inclined to make several meals each evening so you need to be open to preparing your own food.

Non smokers, who enjoy a fit and healthy active lifestyle, along with an enthusiastic, go getter attitude.

A solid understanding of English is also required.

The help at the moment is varied and includes cleaning (windows mostly), oiling of decks, general garden maintenance and weeding, digging out some weeds, picking up horse poo, help with setting up fencing and general property cleanup. There is limited opportunity to ride horses. The work would suit handy sort of people that can use basic tools. I am also doing a renovation and need help with painting and all sorts of easy tasks. Would love someone who loves to organise things!

The expectation is 5 hours work, 5 days a week. Not 2 1/2 hours taking photos and scrolling and 2 1/2 hours working. The more effort you put into helping us, the more effort we will put into showing you around, it is a two way street. With recent work away experiences I feel very used by the travellers, so please be prepared to put in a good level of effort.

There is also an expectation to clean up after yourself and chip in with daily normal household chores, example; clearing the dinner table, emptying and loading he dishwasher and basic kitchen cleaning.
