    Description

I am an empty nester who lives with a Golden Retriever and two cats in Prince Edward County, in the magical village of Wellington. My home is a one minute walk from the beach (Lake Ontario), and 3 minute walk to the village centre with restaurants, bars, a hardware store, cafes, library, bank and grocery store.
Lake Ontario is spectacular, and I swim in it year long. Yes, an avid cold water swimmer. Wellington has a vibrant cold water swim community, and an active surf community. Prince Edward County is known for agriculture, wine, craft breweries and vast ecological diversity.
I have an abundant garden, a big deck and lots of outdoor spaces to enjoy. I am a long time world traveller. and I want to give back, to offer accommodation to people exploring the area, especially by bicycle. I believe we can share our resources, and live more collaboratively, and make our lives richer, and the world a better place.
I am a practicing Pagan, a Buddhist meditator and a lover of people. I teach Yoga, Pilates and Somatic Movement. I am also in recovery, and don't drink, smoke or drug.
I welcome solo travellers, solo parent plus child, and couples.
I didn't select 'family' because more than two people is not really desired.
I am neurodiverse, and live with a brain injury, so I don't like too much noise or chaos.
I am deeply engaged in my own psychotherapeutic healing and expect people to be self-aware, and self-responsible.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

I am a world traveller who has settled in an idyllic paradise in southeastern Ontario. I love to swim, and enjoy the very social beach culture year round. In the summer I often eat at the beach: coffee most mornings, and a potluck dinner sometimes. At night I enjoy watching the sunset , and often star gaze (last year was a great year for aurora's).
Wellington is a village of 1700 which swells in the summer with tourists and cottagers who visit. We have a Saturday market, with tons of local food.
Prince Edward County has a 49km bike trail that connects to many wineries, villages and towns, and offers a safe, and car-free means of travel.
I am a creative, and have a variety of wonderful friends and neighbours.
I enjoy meta-physical and spiritual conversation, read voraciously, and am a widely published writer.
My adult daughter occasionally visits, and all my animals love that.
I am interested in sharing conversations about how to create more happiness, well being, joy and community in the world. I like people who are doing their healing work, and take responsibility for themselves.
Life is short, let's enjoy some of it together.

    Help

I want help in the garden, with: seeding and starting; weeding and watering; picking and harvesting; and making magical potions.
At times I have garden maintenance to do and common sense would be valuable. I want to create a basic outdoor shower and low-tech water filtration system this summer.
I enjoy people who are flexible and easy going: sometimes working alone; and able to collaborate and carry on a conversation while we weed together.
I grow organically, and generally follow permaculture guidelines.
I am also far more earthy and intuitive than structured and rule-bound.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

I offer a large, private room, with a double bed.
My house is big, and has two shared washrooms, plus wonderful, colourful, creative and magical kitchen, living room, meditation space, and a very large outdoor deck.
I am open to people camping in the yard, but you will need to bring your own tent and bedding. I have had a variety of bike touring people stay in the yard in the past few years, and car camping people stay in my driveway in their vehicle. I am open to adventurers.
I am an eclectic eater, and make homemade sourdough bread, kombucha, and a variety of canned preserves from garden veggies and fruit.
I love good coffee. And, I am an intermittent faster.
I expect that you will be able to make your own breakfast from food in the fridge and kitchen, and we can collaborate on lunches and dinner.
I spend a lot of time on the beach, morning and afternoon/evening, and enjoy sharing my morning writing, meditation, beach walk and movement practice with people.
I am an omnivore, after realizing that a vegan diet didn't serve my mitochondria very well. I prefer whole foods, and lean toward fruits and salads in the summer, and soups and stews in the winter. I like to bake and believe that homemade bread and butter, or warm cookies, can fix many issues.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

I don't watch TV, or Netflix.
My home is quiet and peaceful.
I go to bed early, and protect my sleep.
I am in recovery, so I don't drink alcohol, smoke, or drug. I don't want to host any smokers (cigarettes or weed) because they smell bad, and I don't want addictive substances in my home.
My animal familiars are friendly and love to cuddle. If you are allergic to dogs, cats, or wild women, this is not the place for you.
I have parking available if you drive. I can pick you up at the Via station in Belleville if you travel by train. There is a bike path through the County. This is a small village and you can walk to whatever you need.

I welcome well behaved dogs and cats, with a very low prey drive/instinct. My cats roam outdoor, and I will not tolerate them being chased. You must clean up after your animals.
