Description
Family life here! My partner and I are in our mid 30s and parents to two young kids. We have a 2 year old and a 4 year old. We make our home in the beautiful small town of Lillooet in unceded St'at'imc nation territory (in British Columbia). This gorgeous setting is the transition landscape between the wet coastal mountains and the drier rugged interior. We live on 1 acre in the town, flanked by stunning mountains on all sides and the mighty Fraser River running through, which is the largest undamned salmon bearing river in North America. Our town is also adjacent to Seton Lake which is a large lake with a beautiful swimming beach.
We have a big garden and some fruit trees that we prepare meals with and do some canning and preserving. At the moment a lot of our time is consumed by our young kids, but generally when we are not working in the garden, playing with the kids we try and go hiking, camping, and swimming at local lakes. We also have various small construction projects on the go so are working on those as often as we can. Anna stays home with the kids full time and Zac works full time as a Paramedic, and we also keep busy with kids, family, friends, and hobbies.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
If you like rugged mountainous rural and wilderness environments Lillooet is the place for you! We would be happy to take you to our favourite swimming spots and mountain hikes. Both of us have spent years growing up, working, hiking, and camping in the mountains surrounding town. They are full of deer, moose, bears, cougars, and numerous species of birds and plants. We would encourage you to also explore these areas on your own time, We will be happy to point you in the right direction.
We are also very excited to learn about you and your home. We both have done some international travel. Europe and Latin America mostly. My partner is very interested in current events and social and political affairs, so if that's interesting to you than you may be in luck haha. Both of us hope to learn Spanish one day. So, if you speak Spanish we would encourage you to share that with our kids.
Projects involving children
This project could involve children. For more information see our guidelines and tips here.

Help
We are looking for help with childcare for our 2 and 4 year old and help in our garden, although if someone had any building experience we have some projects we are working on as well. The kids are a lot fun! They love going to the local playground, eating strawberries in the garden, going on walks, colouring, reading books, doing crafts and lots more. We would also like some help around the house with general cleaning and tidying and some yard work.

English: Fluent

Accommodation
We have a guest bedroom in our house that would be yours for your stay, or lots of room in our back in yard if you have a van/bus/camper.

What else ...
Unfortunately there is no bus, train, or planes directly to our town. It's actually a small town. Our airport is tiny and is mostly used for drag racing haha. And thanks to North Americas terrible dependence on private cars, public transit is non-existent. So, you would have to drive or hitch hike here or take a bus to nearby towns and we could come pick you up. Once you get here though you can walk and cycle from our place to downtown or to the beach for a swim very easily.
