    Description

    30 years ago (right after school), I arrived in the Eastern part of the Algarve as a very young woman and fell in love with the country, the culture, the people, the scenic surroundings with its impressive coast line, and of course the wonderful climate. So I just stayed, having nothing at first, except my dreams. From the very beginning, I lived an unconventional, always self-reliant and independent life as a single woman. I got the chance to built my first house on my own in my early 20s, and started my business right at the same time. But illness and strokes of fate can hit anyone, and it hit me hard too just a while ago.
    Now I need help, because this time I can't do it alone.
    For this, I am hoping for and would be incredibly happy to get a fair amount of women's power! Young women who see their passion or profession in crafts and working outdoors, like gardening (e. g. create a vegetable patch), some minor building work, a few home improvements, and a new coat of paint here and there! Of course, men and/or older people are welcome too! :-D But as a modern, independent woman in her late 40s, I think it would be even more interesting to host other women who know what they're doing and want to experience something new…
    You can bring your helping partner along or come alone, if you don't mind being on your own. It would be fantastic if you have already some experience as an all-rounder or even have training as a craftsperson such as a carpenter, gardener, mason or painter.

    Of course, it is quieter with me than with other hosts who have a whole group of volunteers with them. I can only accommodate one or two volunteers (as a couple) at a time.
    But I'm sure there are also (maybe more introverted) people who prefer exactly this: the peace and quiet and freedom of working alone and even enjoying your ME time!
    I am always there as your contact person and when you have questions, but I need time for myself! Since I fell ill, I can unfortunately no longer do much physical work myself, or I tire quickly, and need to rest every now and then.
    So you should be able to do things on your own and work alone, according to the daily schedule.
    Most of the time we will not share meals together. You have your own kitchen and fridge for self-catering (see below).
    I speak English, German and Portuguese and understand some basic spanish.
    I am an honest, warm-hearted and open person, but rather introverted. I like good and deep conversations, but also fool around now and then - I like to have funny people around me because I love to laugh!

    I can teach you the Portuguese or German language.
    I can be your mentor, if you want to settle down in Portugal.
    Here you can destress from your own past and get inspired to do something new.
    I have experience in building and all kind of DIY. I am also a massage therapist by profession and I had my own businesses running both in the health sector as well as in tourism for many years.
    Hopefully we can learn from each other and just have a good time together.

  • Help

    Help

    I need help with
    * gardening, e. g. create a vegetable patch
    * painting tasks (most outdoors)
    * renovating tasks around the house and some home improvements
    * building a small chicken coop (I have been dreaming of a chicken coop and eggs from happy hens for so long! ;)
    * cleaning & general maintenance

    I kindly ask you to work 25 hours a week. Whether you help 5 hours a day on 5 days per week, or you prefer to help 3 to 4 hours a day on 6 or 7 days a week, is up to you - but it is important to communicate with me :-) and stick to the plan and working times that we make for the next day.
    I don't make long term commitments (usually 1 to 2 weeks, eventually 3).

    I prefer people older than 27 years, who already have some work and life experience. People must be responsible and respectful with the tasks and living area as well as tools/working material.

    You will be staying in a small apartment of 30 sm. It is very simple but really cozy. You can come alone or eventually as a couple. There is a bedroom with a 140cm X 200cm bed, a small kitchen and a bathroom. There is a veranda and a small garden in front of the apartment, where we are going to both work and relax. Hammock provided, for after work ;-)
    You will receive 70 euros per week (and person) to buy your food.
    I'll take you to the supermarket by car, twice a week, if you want to.

    Please note:
    - No smoking inside the property please
    - No room for other cars or campervans
    - Not suitable for "Digital nomads" (Internet available, but often weak or unstable signal)

  • What else ...

    What else ...

    The small property lies quietly in a rural country side between orange groves and vineyards, yet only 3 km from the sea, in the Eastern Algarve (check out on youtube - RIA FORMOSA NATURAL PARK).
    It actually is the perfect place to make holidays, with the most beautiful long and sandy beaches that Europe has to offer, plus the purest sea water quality. Cities like Faro (next airport!), Olhao, Sao Brás de Alportel, Tavira, Vila Real St. Antonio or Castro Marim are all just 10 to 30 minutes drive away.

    The nearest village is just 2km away from the house, with a small grocery store, 2 or 3 market stalls, as well as a few cafés/bars. So there is everything you need, in walking distance.
    However, if you want to be more independent, you can rent a bike in the next town.
    If possible, I can also give you a ride to the station (the next station is only 3km from the house) and pick you up again, if you want to go somewhere to explore, on your free day.
