    Description

We are a 4 generation family that needs help with yard and house maintenance from time to time. SHORT NOTICE inquiries best for us.
We live on the ocean in a lovely small town on the Sunshine Coast of B.C., just 2.5 hours from Vancouver Int'l Airport. It is accessed by ferry or seaplane, and would be considered a remote destination. Sechelt (a bigger town) is a 30 minute drive, and the entire coast is ~150 kilometres from one end (Langdale) to the other (Earls Cove).

We eat good food. Health and wellness is a priority. PROJECT is located at a 1.3 acre property in downtown Madeira Park near amenities and highway exit. The work is light and hours flexible so there’s lots of time for exploring the area.

Accommodation is a clean, private cabin suitable for a single or couple (with or without a vehicle). Or, I can accommodate a trailer or Motorhome on a serviced RV site. Excellent WiFi. Pet(s) only with prior approval please. We currently have no pets.

Madeira Park, Pender Harbour is central to hiking trails, fishing adventures, sightseeing, culinary and cultural experiences in our scenic, protected harbour. There are 11 lakes in the area and over 5000 years of First Nation history. We are a family of longtime residents in the community. We have UK and Finnish roots, 7 generations in Canada. You will likely meet my brother and his family during your stay.

    Help

Help maintaining a peaceful 1.3 acre naturally landscaped yard with fruit and nut trees, food garden, and several flower gardens. At this time, we need twice daily watering, soon it will be harvesting and preparing fruit, first plums then pears and apples. Raking up fallen nuts, fruit and leaves, clipping back any blackberry vines that survived the Spring blitz, stacking wood from recent tree removal and perhaps some brush cutting will mix in. Repainting a mural on a retaining wall may occur if you are artistic. The work will be pleasant vs strenuous. Maximum 20 hours, likely less. Usually a week long stay is preferred but I’m flexible. It’s good to have a vehicle but not necessary. We have 11 lakes, ocean beaches, water sports and sport fishing as top recreational activities here. The scenery is spectacular, we occasionally see whales, seals and porpoises from the shore. Thank you for considering us!

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

Stay in a spotlessly clean, cozy, comfortable cabin with skylights, internet, tv, heat, fans, ice maker, fridge, countertop appliances, washer (hang cloths to dry) and potable water. It is set up for 1-2 people with a double size Murphy bed. Mattress is 8” luxury foam and very comfortable. Smoking outside only. Fast Internet. Off street parking and a private outdoor area with table (and possibily a Bbq). If you have your own self contained RV, it parks on a separate site with hookup to the septic tank and potable water. Shower and bath tub are in a fenced, private garden on southside of main house, and it is shared by all of us. You pick your time of access or call out in case it’s being used. This feature is absolutely lovely and when run as a BnB, guests always commented that it was their favorite part of the stay. There are residents in the main house (both are classical musicians in their late 20’s) and I am a retired biologist that can’t keep up with the chores. I live offsite. I will give you money to buy the food you like and you will cook your own meals. There’s two pubs nearby, Mexican and Japanese cafes, coffee shops, burger stand, Italian grocery, IGA, liquor store, pharmacy, bank machine. You can reach me by What’s App (preferably, cellular won’t always work). It is a large property but please be mindful of each other’s privacy, peace and quiet. If this sounds like a place with projects you might enjoy helping with, come join us.

Pender Harbour offers beautiful scenery and peaceful living. We are super tidy and respectful people and expect same. Please contact me using the Workaway app only. If we are hosting you, it’s best to communicate using What’s app or cellular services using the numbers above because we have found the workaway app can be slow in forwarding messages. I look forward to hosting you and showing off our lovely seaside town.
