Greetings from Mongui, Boyaca, Colombia. I live in a lovely old traditional adobe house with two cats and spend my days weaving, or teaching others about weaving, and dying with natural herbs and minerals, and offer creative activities with youth and others. I have an organic vegetable garden and grow and sell organic quinoa. I have lived here for 8 years and love the open green spaces and views.

Here you can walk among the back roads in between the farms and meet other locals milking their cows, working in the fields. The town of Mongui is 2 km away where you can shop, visit restaurants, sit in the plaza and just be present. There are often cultural events in the plaza as well.

I am looking for like minded, easy going new friends who enjoys working in the gardens, processing quinoa, working on a variety of projects needed to maintain the house and property, like fixing fences, etc., someone who can work together with me and also independently. I try to live lightly on this land and generate as little waste as possible and reuse or repurpose all that I can. I eat mostly vegetables and fruit and occasionally meat and would enjoy sharing the cooking together and learning new recipes.

In your free time you can hike and explore many areas including the high paramo or travel to the nearest city of Sogamoso, a 35 minute bus ride. From Sogamoso you can take buses to other heritage villages or travel to Bogata in bus in 4 hours. You can walk to and from the village, 2km, or hire a Tuk tuk.
IMPORTANT I live at 3000 meters altitude which might be initially difficult for some people. Temperatures vary by season and can drop to freezing at night at certain times. A jacket or sweater is comfortable inside..
