Description
Are you looking for a unique and fulfilling experience? Come join us on our farm in the picturesque countryside of Schwerin, Germany! We are a friendly family of four, along with our adorable dog, three sheep, four runner ducks, and some horses from our neighbor's stables. Our charming 100-year-old farmhouse is waiting to welcome you into our daily lives.
As avid travelers ourselves, we understand the excitement and adventure of visiting new places. Having spent over two years away from home, we have had the pleasure of helping others through workaway and other platforms. We know firsthand what it's like to be a helper in a new environment, and we strive to make you feel at home with us.
Our farm boasts a large vegetable garden that follows permaculture and organic principles. From seed to harvest, you'll learn all about the daily tasks of maintaining a garden, including seeding, transplanting, weeding, mulching, harvesting, and compost making. Our primary focus is creating and maintaining a living soil, so we also make our own garden ferments and microorganism solutions. It's amazing to see the results under a microscope and to witness the soil come to life!
In addition to our vegetable garden, we are also amateur beekeepers. If you're interested, you can learn all about these fascinating creatures and their importance to our ecosystem.
So, if you're ready for an unforgettable experience filled with adventure, new skills, and making lifelong memories, we invite you to come join us on our farm. We look forward to welcoming you into our family and sharing our love for farming and nature with you.Types of help and learning opportunities

Help
We expect 4-5h of work per day / 5 days a week in exchange for food, accomodation and a place in our family. We will try to suit the work the best we can to your abilities, liking and safety.
Additionally there are sometimes things to do around the house and our three acre property. Including caring for the animals, making fire wood, landscape maintenance, food preservation, maintaining fences and buildings, some renovation, some cleaning and so on.Languages

We're happy to help with your German, if you like, but we don't expect you to use it.Accommodation
You can sleep either in your own room in our house or in the cozy wagon in the garden - depending on the season as the wagon is not heated. Both rooms have a 140cm wide bed, so it fits two people if you wish. There is always WIFI in the house, but none in the wagon.
We usually have oats or sandwich for breakfast. Lunch is always different, sometimes freshly cooked, sometime leftovers, sometime snacks. We usually have a warm and freshly cooked meal for dinner. We don't expect you to cook for the whole family, but outside the working hours we might ask you to help with meal preperation, peeling and cutting veggies and so on. We try to use our home grown foods as much as possible. We are no vegetarians, but most meals are. Every few days we have meat, mostly from homegrown animals from neighbours/friends.What else ...
We live in a beautiful area with lots of possibilities to spend your time. Schwerin is very close by and a wonderful old town with it's famous big castle. Just google "Schweriner Schloss" or browse through our pictures to see for yourself. 😉 Schwerin is called the "Town of Seven Lakes", so there's lots of lakes but also forests and open fields/pastures around. So you can go hiking, biking or swimming. You will usually spot deer, rabbits, birds like herons, cranes, birds of prey, jays, finches or songbirds. At night walks you might see or hear owls and often bats.
For a day trip you can visit the Baltic sea, the Elbe river or surrounding towns like Wismar, Lübeck, Hamburg or even Berlin. Bus and train stations are close by.A little more information

I helped there for two weeks, 5 hours, 5 days a week as the agreement was. My aim was to learn more about how to create a good, regenerative soil, while simultanously having the opportunity to explore the culture of the area. I left with a feeling that everything… read more
