We are a conservation centre based on a private resort off the west coast of Sabah, North Borneo. Our aim is to conserve and protect the marine and terrestrial ecosystems around the island which we do through the education of visitors and the work of our research and science teams. Our activities include; but not limited to; coral rehabilitation, reef restoration via artificial reefs, citizen science programs on flora and fauna above and below water, and seaweed farming as local community empowerment or enrichment. By restoring habitats damaged by tourism and unregulated fishing activities like fish bombing, and by providing an alternative livelihood to local fishermen, we aim to conserve and enhance biodiversity and ecosystems. Ultimately helping to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations.
We operate Marine Science Courses, Scuba Diving Courses, Coral Propagation Courses - Ocean Quest Global Protocol, reef conservation, coral observation, shark conservation, seagrass, seaweed, kids activities and many more. Due to our conservation centre protocol we are only allowed Conservation Volunteers who pay to join the program to help with the daily tasks in this area of our work. WA Volunteers give a special rate if you do wish to join any of the courses above. Sometimes our Science Team require more helping hands, so you might be the lucky one to assist them.
We welcome you to come join us to work and learn! Be part of our movement. All workaway volunteers who complete their stay with us will recieve a letter of thanks.
