    Description

Thank you for checking us out! My name is Ray and you'll be contacting me most of the time! I am new here on this platform, though I have experience with Workaway with previous NGO's. We are a mainly a café, located in the the heritage district of MELAKA
    Here are our team members
    1. Roger - founder, Malaysia
    2. Ram - Head chef, Nepal
    3. Lee - front of house/ host, Malaysia
    4. Ray - general support, Malaysia
    5. Chris - Barista/bartender ,Nepal
    6. Aakash - Kitchen crew, Nepal
    7. YK - general support/kitchen, Nepal
    8.LopChan - Kitchen Crew
    9. Ayon - kitchen crew. Bangladesh

    Some details about us :)
    We are also:
1.An Art Gallery – Most work are by our founder Roger, but there are other pieces by others as well. You might be one of them! This place is a platform where artists can discuss, share, and showcase their works and ideas freely, without prejudice or discrimination, provided that it is respectful.

2.A Restoration Project –It is a very old house, it is not perfect and we are doing our best to to preserve this building and the other ( your living quarters, an old village house made from wood!) with the time we have.

3.A Home – Just as it was originally built to be 250+ years ago, 2 of our members live here. One of them has four legs and a tail.

    4. Terrarium/ Nursery - A life size one at that. You'll see it when you get here. Roger has alot of knowledge in anything to do with gardening/planting etc. Most plants and trees are still alive since the day he set his roots in this place, There are different varieties of species and also his personal DIY normal terrarium project with his 8 year old daughter.

I personally have fallen in love with this place ever since I set foot in it, Before being part of the team, I often come just to visit Roger and have coffee and be in the ambience. It really slows you down.
We welcome volunteers who are happy to help with daily tasks. Let us know if you have any extra skills or hobbies, any possibilities will do, and let's see how we can make it work together! Volunteers are expected to work minimum 5 hours a day, 5 days a week, in exchange of accommodation and food. We will mainly cook our meals for everyone in THE PROJECT SITE for lunch, and for dinner it can be arranged with house mates in your living quarters, as every takes turn cooking. We may prepare ingredients for you to cook and sometimes bring you to our hotspots around town. Let's see where this journey goes!

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

We are new on this platform and would like to inform beforehand that the benefits will evolve overtime. You will get to experience what life is like for the locals, we can take you on tours to see more of our city and also the state. You will leave a piece of yourself here, depending on the art you leave. Be and witness a place with a multitude of cultures, race, religions - their customs and many more. Try and learn how to make our local cuisines. Do let us know your dietary preferences, we hope that you are also open to accept local food. Volunteers can also learn about simple living, gardening, maintaining a heritage building, simple electrical, carpentry and how we operate this establishment

  • Help

    Help

We need help with general upkeep of THE PROJECT SITE and our quarters we call - KAMPUNG HOUSE ( it is a literal village house from the 1900s)
These are some of the work and task you will or may do. Just note that the work is mostly DIY type, not large scale. Most of our decor, and furniture are made by our founder, some of it are really old and they just need some extra care and you wont be replacing our current team.
    1. Carpentry ( you won't be doing this alone unless you can. Eg. fixing broken wooden baby chair)
2.Decor care ( don't worry, you won't be building anything massive, just giving extra care, example, follow Roger to look for drift wood by the beach, replace light bulbs
    3. Clean up & organizing work
    4. Gardening ( watering plants, cutting grass, pulling weeds,)
Basic knowledge in these areas will be of good help to us and if not, I hope you are willing to learn - we will guide you along the way.
