Description
We are a family homestead in the Kootenay region (Salmo). We have gardens, a food forest, a creek, natural forest and endless building projects we need help with. We are a family of four (parents and 2 teens) with dogs and chickens trying to grow as much of our own food as possible and live a sustainable lifestyle. We always have a creative building project or two on the go. We are a 2 minute drive 915 minute bike ride) from the small village of Salmo and a 30 minute drive from the larger cities of Trail, Nelson and Castlegar. We are nestled in the beautiful mountains with pristine rivers and creeks. We feel truly blessed to live where we do.

We are surrounded by dense forest and pristine waterways. The Salmo Valley truly has so much to offer people who love nature. You'll have an opportunity to learn all sorts of self reliance skills while working together on projects. From working with plants, working with tools, preserving food and more. We are world travellers ourselves and enjoy sharing stories and working together.

Help
We welcome help with gardening , land maintenence and help on building projects cooperatively. This summer we'll be focusing on cleaning up the natural forest around our creek and building a sauna. Volunteers will have a variety of tasks. We also all need to eat each day so if you love cooking, your contributions could take place in the kitchen.
