Description
We live in a lovely property 30 minutes outside of Hobart, with fruit trees, a large vegetable garden, fish, and chickens. We have an 8 year old son who is engaging, creative, curious, and funny. We would love help around the property, with gardening, property maintenance, housekeeping, and child care.
We can offer a private bedroom, plus meals. Depending on our other visitors, you may have your own ensuite. The guest bedrooms are on the opposite side of the house, so it is very private. There are lots of walking tracks around the area, you can walk to the local beaches, and there is bus service in to town. Additionally we travel to Hobart about once a week and are happy to give lifts. We would be happy to take you with us on small excursions when we explore the land and sea.
We are looking for someone that would be interested in integrating into our family life for the length of your stay. We would prefer someone with a drivers licence, but that is not essential. Non-smoker preferred.Types of help and learning opportunities

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
We have spent a lot of time overseas, and happy to teach English to people for whom English is not a first language. Also we will involve our helpers in any camping, hiking, or fishing activities that we do while they are around. If we can't go out ourselves, we will do our best to facilitate sightseeing in the local area.
Projects involving children
This project could involve children. For more information see our guidelines and tips here.
Help
There are always jobs to do at the property! We need help around the grounds, maintaining, gardening, cleaning, etc. We also occasionally do some small building projects, and can use help there. Additionally, we have a young son, and would be grateful for some child care. We are very easygoing, and flexible with respect to the time and schedule. We are happy for you to set your own schedule for the most part. Occasionally there will be time-sensitive jobs, but primarily they can be completed at your leisure.

There are lots of great things to do in Tasmania - beaches, hikes, walks, city activities. There is a public bus, and we go into the city regularly as well as going on excursions throughout Tassie.

I spent nearly three weeks with Qamar, Frank and there lovely son Maxwell. I felt really welcome in their family.
Most of my exercises where working outside on their property, some household and packing boxes. But they also made sure that I have enough freetime, so I could made a hiking tour to Snug falls and nice walks on… read more

They all welcomed me very warmly and I felt at home immediately.
My stay with them was a real pleasure and I'd encourage anyone to go and help them.
