Description
greetings & blessed spring. we hope you're staying happy & well out there. we apologize for delayed emails; we have limited wifi, but we will respond. Presently, we are seeking folks serious about sustainability & resilience living in these wild times. we are specifically interested in folks with some basic understanding of off grid community living minded for shared meals, projects & gatherings .
this season we’re focused on building our food forest, finishing up some cabin projects & hosting a few workshops around tiny house construction & natural building materials.
we generally account for all your food while you stay on our farm, and while we can still offer amazing spaces & experience for a worktrade, you must help provide for special food that isn't grown or foraged from the land like coffee, etc.
about us & the farm: we are an off grid farmily with three full-time human dwellers and 5 dogs, too many barn cats, chickens & turkeys. we have two horses & a donkey in our neighbor’s pasture.
we delight in sharing our teaching & learning permaculture farmstead & invite you to our magical forest. we live off the grid on a microhydro electric & solar pv system; we grow much of our food. we forage & wildcraft. we make kombuchas & kimchi. we generally learn as much from visitors as we hope to share & teach.
we are a working farmstead, so there are often a variety of projects in motion. we prefer hosting couples, small groups of folks & families with skills and experience in carpentry, natural building, and alternative energy systems. we host workshops, camps, day programs & events throughout the year & this August we’re having a big 25th Landiversary gathering!!.
we work hard to lighten our footprint in this world, & our cabins, tent spaces & farmhouse reflect that. we invite you to leave behind traditional amenities & come to the end of the road to learn, teach, grow, relax, reflect, dream & more. we try & love the life we live & live the life we love.
**********for 2024 *******If there’s a week or month or more that you’d be interested in committing to, please reach out as we try & fill our calendar. for folks wanting a longer stay or through the whole of winter, we require a trial time together to make sure it’s a good fit & prefer carpentry & skillsets suitable for winter months as it can be quite challenging at timesTypes of help and learning opportunities

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
our farm is an amazing place for both respite and a day to day look at the lives of offgrid subsistence. we prefer to host multiple volunteers/work traders/visitors at a time, & we believe in each one, teach one and that many hands do make light work. while it is romantic sometimes, it's also incredibly challenging, but with the help of many hands, sustainability & resilience are that much closer to reality for us all. we delight in sharing our land & we are deeply grateful for your help & wisdom.
Projects involving children
This project could involve children. For more information see our guidelines and tips here.
Help
right now we prefer workawayers with some skills and experience in carpentry, natural building, and/or alternative energy systems. we've found that learning our systems takes time & it's best if folks can spend several weeks or more here, but we can be negotiable via email, etc.
we love hosting families & children, but winter months can be challenging.Languages spoken
