    Description

Update Feb 4 2024 - the recent storms have destroyed our road and we won't be able to host until the road has dried out sometime in the spring. Thank you for your understanding.

    Howdy,

We are looking for a few good people to come and help manage our 120 acre ecological restoration site in Northern San Diego County. We are an open minded group of permaculture designers, artists, climbers, dreamers and other like minded humans working under the Conservancy 501c3 to steward and develop a 120 acre ranch and olive grove. It is situated in a larger rugged undeveloped area totaling roughly 60,000 acres of wilderness with a varied terrain with chaparral, oak savanna woodland and riparian zones. Our goal is to restore the site to maximum ecological function as a demonstration of regenerative land stewardship practices. We will be installing various water retention features on the landscape such as beaver dam analogs, rock check dams, greywater reuse and rainwater harvesting all with the goal of showcasing methods to increase increase habitat and build biodiversity from the soil up.

If you are interested to learn about ECOLOGICAL RESTORATION, PERMACULTURE, PROCESS BASED RESTORATION and WATERSHED REHYDRATION this might be a super opportunity for you. Please be aware the work is physically and mentally demanding, living conditions are basic and the site is ~30 min drive to town. We are looking for people that are excited to work hard, play hard in nature and be involved with the start of a really cool land based restoration project.

We have an immediate need for help establishing basic infrastructure in preparation for hosting educational groups and workshops early 2024. Work is basic construction of shower building, trenching, irrigation, olive grove care, vegetation control among other tasks. Accommodation is tent or vehicle camping (we can provide tent), a nice composting toilet and simple rinse shower. We will provide basic foodstuff (pasta, rice, veg etc) and transport to grocery store as well as an outdoor kitchen for the preparation of meals in exchange for 4hrs of work each morning with afternoons free, five days a week. We enjoy cultural exchanges, playing music and storytelling at the campfire. Local rest day / afternoon activities are not limited to local hiking, biking, swimming and rock climbing. Beaches are roughly an hours drive. We love to work hard and play hard!

Transportation pickup can be coordinated from Ramona which is accessible by public transportation but it is preferable that volunteers have their own transport. We have parking for personal vehicles and van / RV parking spots, some with water hookup.

We look forward to hearing from you, answering any questions you might have and hosting you onsite!

Unfortunately, the site is not yet set up to accept children onsite due to hazards around livestock etc.

    Much love from the crew
