    Description

This is a haven of peace in a crazy world, surrounded by cork oak woodlands and inspirational views. We (4 adults from 4 nations, ages ranging from 30-70) live here simply with our herd of horses, caring for the land. We harvest the native plants and distill essential oils and hydrosols as a sustainable source of income, as well as hosting guests who want to have a quiet meditative holiday, or learn about essential oils or themselves (Nayana is an aromatherapist and herbalist specialising in animal care). We care for the land with regeneration in mind, always listening to nature and how we can help it thrive. For us, life is about living totally, embracing whatever life brings, and enjoying this embodied experience. If this sounds like an atmosphere you'd like to experience for yourself you are very welcome to come and help out. Between working you can swim in the lake, walk with the dogs, hang out with the horses and sit quietly amongst the trees, whatever you fancy. We promise to take good care of you, feed you well and make you laugh.

    Help

The work is mostly the day to day maintenance involved in country living. Horses, (feeding and picking up after) veg garden, land management tasks like strimming and tree care, small building projects from time to time and keeping the camp clean, everything that's involved in caring for all beings that share this land.

We prefer people who want to come and really get involved, not just passing through on holiday. But most important, you must love animals and be able to laugh at yourself to survive here. We are quite remote and very quiet, so best suited to people who enjoy their own company and get along with others easily.

We are 45 minutes from the South and West coasts with fabulous beaches, in summer days out to the beach happen fairly regularly. There is not much public transport, so your own transport is an asset if you do want to explore on your day of rest, though as part of the crew we will help you get to wherever you need to go, within reason. Everyone in camp has their own living space and we eat together in the cantina. We are 8km from the village of Sao Martinho das Amoreiras (and the Mooji community), where there are cafes, Casa Nirvana restaurant and other basic supplies. 20 km from Ourique and 45 minutes from the Algarve. We are 20 minutes by car from Funcheira train station on the Faro-Lisboa line.
