Description
My name is Leah. I fell in love with Puglia 16 years ago and recently purchased a charming house in the historical center of the small town of Oria, a medieval hamlet in central Puglia. The home has super comfortable living spaces including a ground floor apartment with kitchenette, and a first floor apartment with an equipped kitchen perfect for home chefs. The palazzo features an ultra-panoramic terrace perfect for sunning or yoga! Vaulted ceilings, colorful tiled floors, and unique accents create a distinctive Mediterranean environment ideal for short or long stays.
I am looking to find Workaways who want to come and spend one week to one month in Oria. Sometimes I am in town and sometimes I am not so you would have the place to yourself. For this reason it might be nice to come as a pair so you have someone to enjoy the experience with :-)

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
Oria is an amazing slice of small town life in Puglia. It is not a beach town but an all-year-round-town so there is good energy and a fun cultural calendar even in the winter months. The food is out of this world and Oria would be a great place to practice your seasonal Italian cooking! Great base to explore more of the region. There are not lots of tourists and you would have the chance to practice Italian at every exchange.

Help
I would be thrilled to find a Workaway or a pair of Workawayers who would like to come and spend one to two beautiful weeks in Oria doing some light tasks around the house (cleaning, organising, little projects, etc.). Spring is a spectacular time here with all the vegetables in season and the sky clear and all so green! I can promise a lovely experience for the right person/people! :)
I am interested in Workaways with unique and specific skills who would like to bring their expertise to a cultural exchange in Oria. If you do something really well, I would be excited to hear about it!
Set in the historic center of an ancient Puglian town, the house is full of character — colorful cement tile floors, high ceilings, and the charm of traditional southern Italian architecture, with history quite literally all around us. It’s a beautiful home that is being thoughtfully improved little by little. Some projects involve Mediterranean terrace gardening — repotting plants, refreshing soil, and creating lush, green balcony spaces filled with herbs and flowers suited to the climate. Other projects may include small improvement tasks typical of caring for an older historic home.
I would also especially welcome someone who could help visualise and plan an upcoming kitchen update. I would also love to find a volunteer to do some beautiful photography :)
I get a lot of messages and I appreciate all the interest! But I don't have time to respond to messages that are not relevant to the above so please, kindly, with love in my heart - no time wasters :) Thanks

Accommodation
A sunny house in the historical center of Oria. The first floor apartment features a living room with vaulted ceilings, comfortable furnishings, and a sunny balcony overlooking a tiny piazza. Spacious dining room that accommodates four. The Pugliese know that good food is everything and the well stocked kitchen has all the tools a home chef requires to prepare, present, and enjoy it all. Featuring a stovetop and oven, full sized refrigerator, dishwasher, electric kettle and toaster plus thoughtful details such as pie pans, high quality knives, Southern Mediterranean cookbooks, and more. This is a kitchen designed for cooking! The petite bedroom features exceptionally high ceilings, a queen sized bed with cotton bedding, two nightstands, and easy-open window for a gentle evening breeze. An internal whitewashed stone staircase leads up to the panoramic terrace. On a clear day the terrace provides views of both the Adriatic and Ionian seas while ancient groves of olives stretch out as far as the eye can see.
The ground floor apartment is more modest, but still a comfortable space with a double bedroom and kitchenette.
Note on winter time: We have underfloor heating! Sustainable and luxurious for winter stays
What else ...
Oria is right in the center of the best of Puglia so a great base for exploration! Boats leave from Bari and Brindisi to Greece, Croatia and Albania and the two nearby international airports connect you to the rest of the world easily!
