    Description

    Hello and Welcome!

We are a family of three looking for some help around our home and a language exchange starting October 1. We are on the bus route in the city centre, and we’d love to welcome someone to experience everyday family life and explore this amazing place we are blessed to call home.

The help we are looking for is with our family home and everyday family life; we are not asking Workawayers to assist with our business.

We are Erik (37), Amber (46), and Grace (8). We love hiking, canoeing, camping, fishing, hunting, smoking meat, pottery, gardening, and wildcrafting (foraging for wild plants) — basically enjoying the Yukon lifestyle.

We camp and canoe regularly, and with a little help around the house, we have more time to share these experiences and help you explore this beautiful place.

    Helping around our home

Most of the help is with everyday household and family tasks, including:

Meal preparation and helping with meals Cleaning up after meals and general household cleaning Bringing in firewood Gardening and yard work Snow shovelling in the winter Reading stories and spending some time with Grace Language exchange and sharing our cultures and interests

For safety reasons, we don't ask anyone to cook independently unless they have professional cooking experience, but we are very happy to have help with food preparation and the kitchen.

We appreciate positive, independent people who enjoy being part of a family and are open to new experiences. We are excited to meet people from different places, hear their stories and ideas, and share our own Yukon lifestyle with them.

We look forward to welcoming you into our home!

  • Help

    Help

Daily help includes: watering, the garden, household cleaning(dishes & sweeping), cooking and various projects such as painting. We are grateful if you are independent, we are flexible with the hours you help.. you can help either in the AM or PM and you can usually choose to help all day 1 day and then have the next day off etc. observant.. do the animals need food and water, find the milk in the fridge ;), is the garden dry, you to notice these things .

Having a good work ethic and a positive attitude are greatly appreciated. We will give you many options of tasks based on your skill set... you can certainly tell me you would prefer to do task A instead of take B.

It has been mentioned that we don't give much direction. There is truth in this. I will ask you, " what are you good at?"
I don't micro-manage or look over your shoulder constantly to make sure you are doing it correctly....we hope that you are self reliant and will ask for clarification if needed.
