Description
located on the north mountain on the bay of fundy, we are a small-scale permaculture based plant homestead, focusing on hardy fruit & nut trees, perennial vegetables & medicinal herbs. the land is an old clearcut, so we have been working on building soil & practise no-til, resilience based gardening of both annual & perennial food crops, working towards a food forest. we ran a herb & wild food CSA for several years and have done farmers markets across NS/mi'kma'ki for over a decade, selling our home made herbal offerings like fire cider, salves, and much more based on the season.
the land has been home to ducks, chickens, goats & pigs in the past but currently we are focusing on the nursery & could use help with garden tasks, trails, building projects and whatever happens to be on the go. we like to have potlucks and fires and play music.
we are in our thirties & have a daughter who is 10. open to families coming :) we have two farm dogs, one cat, and are planning to welcome chickens, guineas & rabbits back to the land this spring & summer.
happy to share skills of herbal medicine making, land tending, clearcut stewardship, alternative building, gardening & nursery life. we both spent lots of time volunteering on different farms and travelling all over the world, so we love meeting new folks and making new friends.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
the land has a beautiful ocean view, on the bay of fundy, with the worlds highest tides! there are lots of local waterfalls and hikes, a great swimming lake down the road, and a great community of like minded homesteader folks with regular potlucks & opportunity to meet interesting people.
Help
we need help with soil building and home gardening, so a lot of wheelbarrowing, mulching, manuring, weeding, as well as plant propagation, planting & more.
dealing with the herbs would also be an option to learn how to make your own herbal oils, salves, tinctures & infusions.
ideal help would be able bodies and up for physical labour.Languages spoken

we have a yurt cabin situated beside a beautiful creek, with a bed, kitchen & composting toilet nearby. it is private & cozy, tucked away in the woods.
we would provide you with organic staples (grains etc) for meals when you are not helping, as well as whatever is growing seasonally in the garden.
when helping, we would share home cooked meals and herbal tea/coffee.What else ...
