Description
My rustic farm is a non-commercial farm. It has been a long-wished-for dream, when I was able to sell my house in the Netherlands and bought this farm. I always had nice gardens with lots of fruits, including grapes. Having a vineyard has been always my thing, as well making my own wine. I love the proces of wine making. From the taste :) you can tell it is just a hobby still.
As we call it in the Netherlands, I am a Burgundian. I love to cook for other people, but also like to eat, to drink and have fun. Having a barbecue is a must, as well as Indian, Asian and even Eastern European food. Bake my own bread in my bread & pizza oven on the farm. The word "gezellig" is hard to translate in English, but it means something like cosy, warm, pleasant and enjoying being among friends. It is a must that everyone feels welcome and participate in everything we undertake.
I identified already many and will identify more projects. As a former projectmanager I know that having too many projects, nothing much will happen. It has plenty in- and outdoor projects for learning by doing activities. But projects need an end. We finish what we have started to do. I also was a trainer in lean six sigma and know how projects and processes can be made more efficiënt. My focus lies on just 3 little projects at the time.
At first I want a coop for a small number of ducks, including a pasture and a small pond. There is already a chicken coop, but needs to be restored. Also a greenhouse tunnel is there, but needs to be restored. Goal is a farm with a big variety of fruits, vegetables, ducks and chicken and bees. I might consider some goats as well, just to have the grass being trimmed :)
There is a platform to practice yoga. If you know how to practice yoga, please let us all have yoga classes. Besides that I have a big cultural interest in every single continent.
The farm is situated in the small town called Santo André das Tojeiras in the province Castelo Branco. You can arrive the city from Porto or Lisbon by Flixbus, less than than 20 euro and it takes some 2,5 hours. At Castelo Branco I pick you up from the bus station. The train takes twice as long. The ride to the farm from there is about 25 minutes.
The valley in which the farm is located is in a natural environment with many tracks to explore. The people are really warm and friendly.Types of help and learning opportunities
