    Description

We are a farming family working on vegetables, poultry and fruits. We attend weekly public markets and participate in seasonal festivals. We have a very large greenhouse in addition to the regular greenhouse production, we use hanging tube systems with no soil. A very practical technique to let you have more product quicker in smaller lots. We welcome guests locally and transnationally to train on our practices. Our helpers will work together with us hand in hand. We do everything together. We work, eat and take breaks together. Like a big international family. For the apprentice, we will give the required training. We have a small fleet of chicken that we benefit from the eggs. We also produce natural homemade pickles, tomato and pepper paste, fruit extracts and jams. Grandma is the boss on these. Grandpa can teach on and about the chicken. We are accepting volunteers with no discrimination. All are welcome who wants to be a part of our activities. We can accept volunteers only with a minimum stay of 15 days considering arrival, departure, off days and arrival orientation. Per our experience, any less is not working for the host and volunteers. We are located in the Bayramic township of Canakkale (Dardanelles) northern Aegean coast. Beach is an hour away to north and west. Mt Ida is within an hour of drive. Famous Troy antique city is an hour away. :)

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Our township is located on the Biga peninsula that has many ethnic roots from various sections of the EU. Our travellers will be learning on chicken coop and taking care of them. Fruit and vegetable growing and harvesting. We speak English, German and Arabic and willling to find out about different cultures. Our farm is located on the main road at the entrance of the township, in a walking distance to the town center. South Marmara Sea coast is about 2 hours up north and the North Aegean Coast is about 1 hour towards the west, should you want to make a run to the beach. We have worked with EVS and many international volunteers and very experienced. From the ruins of Troy, Dardanelles and Assos, the region is full of history and a lot to discover. Diving to the historic treasures is another selection on this coast. As we do the cooking together also, we will show you Turkish and local dish specialities while expecting you to give us examples of your home dishes. It is a very tranquil environment. I think our helpers will have fun to do the people watch during our participation in the public vegetable market days. People come from all over to do their weekly veggie purchasing.

We do not specifically ask our helpers to be experienced in farming and chickens. We will show how it will be done. But of, course past knowledge or experience, practice will be very helpful. We may also have a lot to learn from our helpers. We have two kids, one just started elementary school. Maybe if the helpers interested, may assist them in their English.
The help required from the visiting helpers is pretty simple. Opening up of the chicken coops in the morning, pouring their feed and water, do the daily cleaning up. Inside the greenhouse, vegetable pool and on the patches is typical gardening. Collecting the vegetables, pruning their plants, aerating their soil, etc. All will be shown how to do. Also, we participate in the local public market twice a week to sell the products we have grown and helpers can assist while enjoying the crowd. Very colourful days. :)
