Description
CBKT school teaches children in rural villages English, to give them a chance to obtain a lifetime job and avoid poverty . Kampong Tralach is located on the bank of the scenic River Mekong , aprox 60 km from Phnom Penh, and downstream from world heritage site Angkor Wat.

Volunteers will live with Homestay families in a rural house, and share typical Khmer meals and customs. Kampong Tralach includes fishing families, and silversmiths of many generations, and artisans of palm oil products ( soap and confectionery) which they will meet. Phnom Penh can be reached on weekends to visit famous colonial buildings like the Foreign Correspondents Club, and the Khmer Rouge war museum and unforgettable Killing Fields.

Help
We urgently require a fluent English speaker to chat with children and teachers about everyday subjects . TEFL or teaching qualification is welcome , but not required for a teaching assistant role. Internet access is available and BBC English programmes and cartoons are used to teach enthusiastic , and delightful under 7,s. Some laptops are available and used to teach older kids some basic IT skills ( email, Word, Exel) which is a golden opportunity for them to obtain lifetime employment . Their entire family depends upon one member finding a job.

Volunteers are accommodated in comfortable private rooms with double bed , fan and mosquito net in a Homestay family house.( see photo). Meals are shared with the family and children , and other volunteers. Markets and bars and restaurants are located in the village.

There are buses and taxis to the capital Phnom Penh, aprox 60 km away. World heritage site Angkor Wat is upstream via boat through the idyllic scenery of Tonle Sap Lake. Bicycles and motor scooters available for touring the green countryside.
