//We recently moved to Turkey. But one day, unannounced, when the stillness overcomes the light, we will return//
We are a family of five living an unorthodox life. We are in search of a certain freedom, an unclear truth.
We believe in constant re-invention and the pursuit of knowledge from within.
We want our children (ages 9, 7 and 4) to be freethinkers; they have never attended school nor have been homeschooled in conventional ways and have great many interests. They spend their time playing with other kids in the neighborhood (they speak Vietnamese), going on bike rides, playing music, creating anything from nothing, inventing games and dances, swimming on a lake. We like the idea that our children are exposed to new logics, different ways of thinking and have engaging interactions...
We are filmmakers and interdisciplinary artists (Mexico & US). We have been making feature films for the last decade and a half. We regularly give filmmaking workshops at universities and have shown our films in film festivals and museums. We pursue themes such as utopia and anti- utopia, historical fiction merged with documentation of the future, the pursuit of solitude, the pursuit of love, of death, the origin of man. Even though our projects might be philosophical and a bit serious in nature- we believe in humor, in laughing at ourselves and not taking ourselves seriously. We believe in perusing a sort of weightlessness.
We live in a small alleyway of a small neighborhood in the small city of Ninh Binh, surrounded by bulbous hillsides. A 10 minute bike ride takes you to lakes and lovely villages.
We do not particularly enjoy traveling. We like moving to small, strange places and staying put. We enjoy observing a place for a long period of time, understanding how and what locals do but only to do those same things slower, clumsier. Stopping at corners not even locals stop, finding beauty where everyone else sees garbage.
Together we have lived in a great many places—Bolivia, India, Paraguay, Arizona, Brazil, Argentina, the Yucatan Peninsula….. We have no “home” other than the place we reside, a place we spend no more than a few years only to abandon it forever-- or so we think.
Through the years we believe we have gotten good at a handful of things; unconventional storytelling through filmmaking, writing, photography, sound..../ ancient food fermentation methods, sungazing, finding underground water, locating 'Hartmann' lines, healing with food, home-birthing, fasting techniques, segment sleeping... We would be glad to share what we know.
We have found that because of the world getting smaller, people's ideas and ways of thinking have become closely similar. We are looking for people with distinctive and rare ideas who can challenge and question our children and us.
If anything you read resonates, pelase write us. We like people to come to our home as true friends.
We hope you find what you seek and have a joyful life,

This project could involve children. For more information see our guidelines and tips here.
The way our kids have acquired knowledge is very different and they experience life through exploration and experimentation.
We are looking for someone to be partners in their adventures, companions of the imagination. We are looking for someone to teach new skills that will expand their small universe and make them more inquisitive-- things not taught in school, unconventional things.
We are not looking for babysitters or people to take care of them- but true freethinkers and seekers who can expand their horizons.
If this sounds entising to you, please write us with your ideas-- something you really enjoy and are passionate about, and we can also help you make that happen.
