As you might know if you already have contacted us recently we didn't receive volunteers for some months as we started to work with local people from the village, that was our choice as we needed more stable people to help us.
The good news is that now we are looking again for some volunteers but also for long term staying, at least 3 months and from October or before.
More than volunteer it’d be a paid job (besides the free accommodation) as guardian/receptionist at the center, facilitator for translating and introducing the place to visitors when they arrive or want to do diet/retreat with medicinal plants, maintenance tasks as cleaning the rooms and the kitchen, helping us doing chocolate, peanut butter that we sell in our little boutique, guiding the local tours in the village etc.
Eventually we need someone to help us with artistic tasks, painting and decorating the center with more location signboard etc. and someone for helping us with the broadcasting via social media as instagram or creating a website as we don’t really have time for it now!
For these two last tasks it might be we accept volunteers for 2 months stay and from mid-July but ideally the idea is to be able to stay minimum 3 months up to 6 months (in case of beginning before October) as mentioned above.
And if you can't come for so long you're always welcome to visit us as a guest!
For those who will read our old description below here the last updates :
Now we already have our bungalow built and two other house/tambos for diet and retreat and we receive people from all over the world, some come only for some days to visit the area, do some walks/treks or local tour of the village and native communities and others stay longer and do retreat/diet with medicinal plants or ceremonies to deepen the connection with themselves/nature and reach new level of consciousness.
Now we let you read our old description, we wrote it more than 2 years ago, as mentioned above we advanced a lot meanwhile but the idea and the vision remain the same...

*First description*
Hello!
We are a Franch-Japanese couple and are looking for help for our permaculture project in the Peruvian Amazonian rainforest.
Our 4.6 hectare plot is a 15 minute walk from the village of Chazuta, which is 1 hour from Tarapoto by car, 1 hour from Lima by plane.
Chazuta is a small village in the jungle of some 8000 inhabitants, very picturesque and traditional, where one can learn about medicinal plants, artisanal chocolate, ecological paper, pottery, honey, and even visit the native communities on along the Huallaga river and discover local fishing and hunting techniques.
We are currently building a 2-storey bungalow on our land with eco-construction techniques (earth walls, roofs with leaves etc.) and developing a nursery to grow our own vegetables, fruits, wood trees, medicinal plants, flowers ...
We have already harvested tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, coriander, ginger, peppers, papayas, bananas, passion fruits, guavas, and we would like to produce more and more varieties of fruits and vegetables in order to approach as much as possible food self-sufficiency. We also have a hectare of cocoa which allows us to make cocoa honey, cocoa tea and chocolate!
Our bungalow has been designed with the idea of receiving people who are looking to take a break from the life of big modern cities, to reconnect with nature and with themselves, or who want to take a retreat or a diet with medicinal plants and we also occasionally organize ceremonies with plants or mushrooms in our maloca.
We also organize tours of Chazuta and the surrounding native communities for people who want to learn more about the traditional way of life of the Chazutinos as well as walks to magical sulphurous thermal waters located a 30 minute walk from our grounds.
Our overall goal is to achieve self-sufficiency in energy, water and food and to create a peaceful place where people can enjoy the quietness and beauty of the jungle to heal themselves and fully express their creativity. From our kitchen and our terrace we have a splendid view of the Cordillera Escalera, a forest mountain range classified as a regional protection area. It can be very inspiring to meditate in front of these green mountains and over time we would like to create an artistic space where visitors can come to paint, play music, read, write ...

You can benefit from a cultural exchange here in different ways. First talking to us during your day to day life, you can learn more languages as Spanish French English and even Japanese ! And learn a lot more about native trees and medicinal plants and local techniques of building houses speaking with the workers that come to help us in the center from Monday to Friday.
Furthermore, you can learn a lot about native traditions, local food and local amazonian legends doing the city tour of Chazuta we propose, in which you'll meet some iconic figures of Chazuta, a local writer poet and historian of the city, the godmother of Chazuta well known for having propelled the ceramic center Wasichay as cultural patrimony of the Peruvian nation in 2015, another Chazuta's godmother that can teach you how to cook the traditional Juane in its ancestral way, a local beekeeper and other very intersting women doing their own handmade product with cacao and other native fruits: soaps, marmalade, special chocolates etc.Help
For now, we need help mainly in 3 areas :
In the kitchen, to help cooking for the team and cleaning, we usually eat vegetarian food together and cook with wood.
With agriculture tasks, to water the baby plants, till the soil and plant new seeds, cultivate, bring original views on how to work in the most organic way etc.
We also look for artists or painters that could help with decorating the place with their own ideas and creativity, finishing some paintings still pending and help with some location panels or doing a map of the center.
Additionally, if you have some informatic skills you could help us with broadcasting our center making a website for example, we have a good internet connection in the land.
More generally we need help in a lot of areas and everyone that want to come and participate in our project with good will is welcome, any special skill can be useful for us, especially if related with permaculture, eco-construction, self-sustainability etc.Languages spoken
