Description
After traveling the world as much as possible in our youth my husband, children and I moved from Switzerland to Horsefly, B.C, in 1993 where we established a cattle ranch. 4 years ago my daughter and her family took over the ranch.
Since then I have been growing a garden to supply me and my family with as much produce as possible. A lot of work but I love it and am ready to share my piece of paradise. I live on Horsefly Lake, a large, quite remote lake close to the Cariboo Mountains. The village of Horsefly is about 12 km from my place and Williams Lake (Hospital, High School, Shopping, etc.) is a 78 km drive.
I share my space with Eddie, the dog, and Mick, the cat.
My daughter, her husband and 3 kids (13, 8, and 6) life right next door, with their cats, dogs, horses, chickens, rabbits and during the summer pigs, turkeys and/or meatbirds. It is fabulous having them right next door and they appreciate my production of vegetables, apples, berries, herbs and teas.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
I love to cook and think sharing meals is important and fun.
In the summer Horsefly Lake is perfect for swimming, kayaking and even fishing and we spend many late afternoons enjoying the lake.
Gardening, preserving and cooking are some of my passions and I love to share what I've learned so far.
Help
GARDEN!
There is always plenty to do all depending on the time of year you'll be visiting. I can always use help with weeding, mowing lawn, planting, harvesting and of course preserving the harvest, etc.,etc.

I'd love to learn Spanish but the online apps just don't do it for me. If you can help/teach me Spanish that would be fantastic!
Accommodation
Depending on the time you'll be visiting you'll either be home in your own A-Frame cabin (small kitchen, bedroom, living room, bathroom with shower, sorry no wifi) or
you're accommodation will be in my house (guest bedroom, own bathroom, shared kitchen, wifi, can't be allergic to cats or dogs).
If you are staying in the cabin you'll make your own breakfast. I'll provide bread, eggs, butter, veggies, jam, milk, tea and/or coffee as well as cereal.
Otherwise meals will be at my house or sometimes shared with my kids.
What else ...
You should be aware that for some people we do live quite remote. I do not have any vehicles you could use to explore the area, but we always make sure to include you in any of our activities. Also there are no public transport options but
I can certainly pick up or drop off in Williams Lake.
We are a non smoking house,....no make that place. Nobody smokes! Also ABSOLUTELY NO DRUGS. Doesn't matter if it is "just" cannabis!
And it doesn't matter if you smoke or use drugs in private/away from us. NO DRUGS, NO SMOKING! Please.
