Description
We are a family living just outside Ghent, Belgium. After taking a break from hosting due to our busy lives, we’re excited to welcome Workawayers again and share our home. Bram is usually at home, while Anna works in Ghent as a teacher. We have two teenagers (15 and 13 years old), as well as a cat, a dog, and chickens. We enjoy meeting open-minded people and look forward to learning from your skills and stories, while sharing ours in return.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
We are a family who likes traveling too. We travelled India, Thailand, South & Central-America, Morocco and Europe and we would love to welcome now the world in our cosy home. As we have 2 children we like to welcome people who want to enjoy family-life. We live close to Ghent, a beautiful city in Belgium with a lot of culture, music, cafés, musea...

Help
. This fall, we’ll need help in the garden, some light construction tasks in and around the house, daily walks with the dog, and support in the house with cooking and cleaning. Most of the time you’ll work independently, but we’ll of course provide clear instructions and guidance
We have a variety of projects planned in the garden, including tree cutting, weeding, and small-scale woodworking. In addition, there are several maintenance tasks such as repointing brick walls and oiling wooden window frames.
We also ask for support with general household duties such as cooking and cleaning. Assistance with caring for the dog and chickens would also be appreciated. The exact tasks can be discussed together, depending on your skills and interests. Work clothing can be provided if required.
Bram is usually present at home. During weekends, we dedicate time to family activities and gardening, which may be a good opportunity for you to explore the surroundings or visit Ghent or other nearby cities. Anna works outdoors but will also be available for conversation and garden work.
Please note that we may not always be at home. While we aim to ensure that at least one of us is present, there may occasionally be a few hours when neither of us is available. We do not keep a strict record of our own working hours and would prefer not to count yours either, unless you specifically wish to. We value flexibility and open communication, and we believe it is important that everyone’s needs are acknowledged and respected.

Accommodation
We have a Yurt (Mongolian tent) in the garden as accommodation, with a fire stove, outside toilet. You can use the bathroom inside the house that we share. We offer food: morning, lunch & dinner.

What else ...
You can reach our house with public transport (train & bus). We live about 20km from Ghent, a wonderful city to vist and enjoy. And of course, as Belgium is tiny, you can travel easily to Brussels/Antwerp/Brugge in no time (half an our to 1 our by train) from our house. In the surroundings of the house there are many walking & cycling possibilities.
